My big preference for writing is of course novels. However there are other formats of writing I compose in as well, both the occasional short story and poetry. Poetry, in addition to being good exercise, has special functions as well. You can express raw emotions freely and easily without being burdened by the need for so many specifics. I find it particularly pleasing when I use it to rant. Like
