“It's a lie to feel any war is far away.”

“Nature is a haunted house--but Art--is a house that tries to be haunted.”
Emily Dickinson, The Complete Poems of Emily Dickinson

“A FEATHER.

A feather is trimmed, it is trimmed by the light and the bug and the post, it is trimmed by little leaning and by all sorts of mounted reserves and loud volumes. It is surely cohesive.”
Gertrude Stein, Tender Buttons

“and when we speak we are afraid
our words will not be heard
nor welcomed
but when we are silent
we are still afraid
So it is better to speak
remembering
we were never meant to survive”
Audre Lorde, The Black Unicorn: Poems

“The indolent mind is not empty, but full of vermin.”
Henry Ward Beecher

“Is it not first through the voice that one becomes animal?”
Deleuze, Mille plateaux
