Lori J. Fitzgerald lives in New York with her fellow English Major husband and their two little bookworms. Medieval literature is her passion, and she wishes she could spend more time traipsing around Renaissance Faires and shouting “Huzzah” at jousts. She was a middle school English teacher for many years and was best known for her dramatic readings of The Princess Bride. Besides publishing under White Raven Writing, Lori is currently a Staff Writer for the website Once Upon A Fan, the popular fansite for ABC’s hit show Once Upon A Time. You can contact her through Twitter @MedievalLit or email WhiteRaven829@gmail.com.

Writer's Digest Conference 2017

I was excited to attend this year’s Writer’s Digest Conference (known as #WDC17 on social media).

Loved the genre buttons this year!
The energy in a gathering of writers, readers, and lovers of all things bookish is quite magical. We encourage and inspire each other as only fellow writers can because we understand everything -- the passion, the fears, the effort. And the speakers at the conferen Read more of this blog post »

“She knew him as much as the knowing of her own heart’s secret: she was destined for the forest.”
Lori J. Fitzgerald, Love Lies Bleeding

“It's a pook, a messenger...spy is more like it," Kern explained sourly. "This one will tattle, and I'll never hear the end of it when I go back." An eyebrow lifted. "Consorting with a human.”
Lori J. Fitzgerald, Love Lies Bleeding

“...The man who stood before her was taller and stranger than anyone she had ever encountered. His unkempt hair was a long dark brown, partially braided and twisted around twigs, the tips of his pointed ears poking between strands. His bare chest made her flush, but it was completely covered in green inked tattoos. Leather breeches creaked when he shifted. He held his hand out to her, uncurling fingers with long nails. "Aislin," he repeated, his voice gruff and purring, "do not be frightened. I have been waiting so long for you.”
Lori J. Fitzgerald, Love Lies Bleeding

“For last year's words belong to last year's language
And next year's words await another voice.
And to make an end is to make a beginning."

(Little Gidding)”
T.S. Eliot

“One day, in retrospect, the years of struggle will strike you as the most beautiful.”
Sigmund Freud

“Fairy tales are more than true: not because they tell us that dragons exist, but because they tell us that dragons can be beaten.”
Neil Gaiman, Coraline

“People who deny the existence of dragons are often eaten by dragons. From within.”
Ursula K. Le Guin, The Wave in the Mind: Talks and Essays on the Writer, the Reader and the Imagination

“Fantasy is hardly an escape from reality. It's a way of understanding it.”
Lloyd Alexander
