“There is no love; there are only proofs of love.” Whatever love I might feel in my heart, others will see only my actions.”
Gretchen Rubin, The Happiness Project

“Inertia is the death of creativity. You have to stay in the groove. When you get out of the groove, you start to dread the work, because you know it’s going to suck for a while—it’s going to suck until you get back into the flow.”
Austin Kleon, Steal Like an Artist: 10 Things Nobody Told You About Being Creative

“The trick is to find a day job that pays decently, doesn’t make you want to vomit, and leaves you with enough energy to make things in your spare time. Good day jobs aren’t necessarily easy to find, but they’re out there.”
Austin Kleon, Steal Like an Artist: 10 Things Nobody Told You About Being Creative

Gretchen Rubin
“from Lewis’s brilliant essay “On Three Ways of Writing for Children”: When I was ten, I read fairy tales in secret and would have been ashamed if I had been found doing so. Now that I am fifty I read them openly. When I became a man I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up.”
Gretchen Rubin, The Happiness Project

“You don’t build the life you want by saving time. You build the life you want, and then time saves itself. Recognizing that is what makes success possible.”
