Oscar Wilde Quotes Blog

“Experience is merely the name men gave to their mistakes.” Oscar Wilde from ‘The Picture of Dorian Gray.’
So, it’s not just the old stuff here that suggests I am an experienced person.

Pass It On

“Creativity is contagious, pass it on,” Albert Einstein.
I had these books with me when I looked up into the trees. Of course I always just walk around with these classics because you never know when I might need them for some inspiration. Here’s hoping, however, some literary creativity gets passed on to me through them.

Happy Independence Day

Happy Independence Day to our American friends. Hopefully Canada and the U.S. are still friends. I mean, as far as I can see, the only thing that might jeopardize our friendship is that we sneak in Canada Day before July 4th just so we can get the best fireworks.

Happy Wine Wednesday

Important wine pairing rule here for wine Wednesday. An old vintage book needs a finer wine … or, in this case, three of some of our better bottles.

Happy World Book Day

I thought for a moment it was World Book and Coffee Day. My misread was perhaps because I have my copyright while I was more in immediate need of my coffee. Still, I wanted clarification; 'World Book Day' or 'World Book and Copyright Day.' From https://www.worldbookday.com/, in the UK and Ireland the next 'World Book Day' is on 7 March 2019 while 'World Book and Copyright Day' is today, 23 April 2018, in other countries. More details on that at https://en.unesco.org/commemorations/... since this is an UNESCO initiative.

Who’s watching you read?

Who’s watching you read? ‘Eye’ had to follow up David Langercranz’s first venture into the Millennium Series with this next one. ‘The Girl Who Takes an Eye for an Eye’ sees the tough Lisbeth Salander even a little rougher but still the character I like to follow along with. But no eyes were taken in the reading of this novel.

Spider's web
I couldn’t get ‘The Girl In The Spider’s Web’ through this web and back to my bookshelves. That’s okay since this is the digital version. The good news is that Lisbeth is essentially still Lisbeth under David Langercranz. I, however, could see some differences but the writing style certainly is consistent with Stieg Larsson’s.

Virginia Woolf quote

Virginia Woolf once said, "Arrange whatever pieces come your way." While I was reviewing my Piccadilly photos, Hatchard's Virginia Woolf window display inspired me to do a mix with this quote. I arranged a few pieces, however, I think Virginia Woolf's quote has more impact.
