As a baby boomer and retired physician I'm devoting my time to writing medical, crime and historical thrillers. My life as an author began in 2003 after several individuals at Toastmaster's International speeches suggested "you should write a book". My first novel THE EYEMAN shows the consequences of untreated PTSD in a Vietnam War returnee. In the author's note of each of my 9 published novels I've revealed the reason behind each book creation. Even when I read other authors I look for the story behind the story.
I live in retirement in San Antonio Texas spending several hours a day writing and editing my novels. I currently have over 34 story lines waiting to blossom into pertinent, poignant prose interlaced with humor and reality.

As a fiction writer, I start with a basis of fact and re-write what might've been. My Boston Strangler thriller does all of this in WHO WILL WEEP FOR ME, as I relived my high school days. (less)

I looked out my restaurant window and saw two men exchange brief cases. They had Homberg type hats and wore black gloves and long overcoats. No one gave them any notice.

The combination of the Nobel Awards and this incident offered multiple plot possibilities which I have not yet pursued.

Doctor's of the old west were not drunks.

As a physician and Addictionologist I finished facilitating a group and one woman pointed to a TV airing of Stagecoach.
"Why does Hollywood depict doctor's of the old west as drunks? Even TV's Gunsmoke has its doctor at a barroom all day."
I reassured her, "Actually doctors settling the west either volunteered or were solicited by towns. Doctors in the 1800's went there at great self-sacrifice."

Peter Glassman As a retired physician each of my medical thriller novels has a purpose beyond entertainment. My historical medical thriller COTTER, taking place in 1968-1872 clearly shows that doctors trained in the academic East (Yale) headed west at self-sacrifice and purpose to bring modern medicine to places like Texas. Similarly THE MYOSIN FACTOR is a thriller with politics, intrigue, and medical science but offers hope for those with Muscular Dystrophy today.

My two Vietnam Era novels, THE DUTY CREW and THE EYEMAN, are applicable to our current wartime era and my novel THE HELIOS RAIN is so timely about the Afghanistan war it's frightening.

I spent many years in drug development with the pharmaceutical industry and my soon to be launched expose medical thriller about drug company sabotage and cover-ups, THE ADJUSTMENT CLINIC, will appear in late March. Check out my Facebook page for the descriptors and links to amazon.com.
