From the depths of The Maddening

I have been asked what has motivated my writings about real-life actors involved in killings (i.e. OJ Simpson, Joel Steinberg) and fictional characters ("Poe" in my latest novel, The Maddening). I suppose such books hold such intrigue since they speak to the tenuous nature of our humanity. The Maddening, in particular, explores this thin line in our human connections and what makes this genre (with special acknowledgment to its creator, Edgar Allan Poe) still so captivating.
