While it was helpful to read about the time and place where I grew up, it was such a grim book, recording so much trauma. Ultimately, Talbot wrote about politicians. A valuable puzzle piece, but not a comprehensive city portrait.

I read this beautiful book at the rate of 2 pages a day. Totally delightful, a chance to really look at some wonderful art from all eras and places. This is an important collection.
