Professionally, Robert is the author of the Silver Brooke Mysteries series, writer and illustrator of the Goober Learns comic series, a part-time novelist and a full-time graphic designer. He and his wife also own Nuked Cards, a game company that makes card and board games that hopefully help people have a fun time.

Personally, Robert is a husband, a father, a storyteller, an illustrator, a game maker, an animator, a lyricist, a designer, a part-time poet, a mid-level handyman, a Lutheran, a lover of lemon cake, a baker of bread, a writer of run-on sentences, and a terrible biographer.

What can video games teach us about luring new readers?

If you are a gamer, you're no doubt familiar with achievement points. If you aren't a gamer or you don't know any, I'll break the system down for you.

The makers of modern games hide objectives or certain combinations of actions that trigger the player to receive an achievement point or points when they complete the objectives. Sometimes it's exploring the whole map, or even just completing the gam Read more of this blog post »
