I sit down to write and am never happy with what I'm writing. When I was high I could write for hours at a time and think I was creating the most top notch shit around, even if I wasn't. Heroin didn't make me more creative but it made me care less, allowing me to get more writing done. I'm currently working on a second novel about lucid dreaming and prison. I have the framework in my mind and have started the rudimentary outline. I'm going for a much darker tone than Wasting Talent. I'm just finding it much more difficult to get productive writing sessions down now. (less)

Bernie's Political Revolution

By Ryan Leone

At the 2004 Democratic National Convention, a little known politician named Barack Obama, proclaimed, "There is not a liberal America and a conservative America — there is the United States of America. " My father turned to me and said, "That guy right there, he's going to be the president someday."

“The Edge... There is no honest way to explain it because the only people who really know where it is are the ones who have gone over.”
Hunter S. Thompson, Hell's Angels

“It never got weird enough for me.”
Hunter S. Thompson

“There are times, however, and this is one of them, when even being right feels wrong. What do you say, for instance, about a generation that has been taught that rain is poison and sex is death? If making love might be fatal and if a cool spring breeze on any summer afternoon can turn a crystal blue lake into a puddle of black poison right in front of your eyes, there is not much left except TV and relentless masturbation. It's a strange world. Some people get rich and others eat shit and die.”
Hunter S. Thompson, Generation of Swine: Tales of Shame and Degradation in the '80's

“Pain and suffering are always inevitable for a large intelligence and a deep heart. The really great men must, I think, have great sadness on earth.”
Fyodor Dostoevsky, Crime and Punishment

“But how could you live and have no story to tell?”
Fyodor Dostoevsky, White Nights
