Memorial Day

Memorial Day
I remember poppies red
Sold to us to remember dead
Who long ago had died in France
And maybe someday I could chance
To die for God and country too
And for the red and white and blue
That it might wave forever free
For liberty for you and me
Now on this day I'm glad to say
I never had to go away
In ships or planes to make a stand
Yet others did and other died
Their families by their graves have cried
We pray their sacrifice not vain
And given so our sweet refrain
Remain land of the brave and free
On this day and forever be

Danger out there

Wherever in the world you are
There's danger not so very far
From to much rain or not enough
From twisting wind and other stuff
From mountains rising from the plain
To sink holes going down the drain
Or just perhaps a touch of flu
Or virus plague or something new
And not to mention war and crime
Or accidents come just in time
To spoil your plans or break your bones
Yes danger won't leave us alone
And so it pays to live each day
With thankful hearts in evry way
For one more day of life and love
Each one a gift from God above
Each breath and beating heart a joy
Each opportunity we can employ
The best we have and nothing less
Will help us share in happiness
Let danger come when ere it will
But give our all to life until

Kitty in the wall

There was a noise within our wall
From right behind the shower stall
Twas not a mouse nor even rat
My god did we just hear a cat
Oh what to do i do not know
For Anti-Pest it just might go
But on the weekend they're away
And so the pest right here will stay
For crawling neath the house not me
So come the night time may kitty be
Within the wall and snuggled tight
At least till Monday out of sight

Computer Broke

Computer broke we did despair
Perhaps a virus hiding there
So to the Geek Squad I did go
And sure enough he did know
Of course I had to sit and wait
But then he did not hesitate
With just of blast of air from can
And I am saying you'r the man
For twas a crumb beneath a key
That crippled laptop deary me
But how was I to know or dare
To think the fix was simply air

Expensive eyes

Expensive Eyes

How did it come to this
What stages did I miss
New glasses broke the bank
Even senior discount stank
Four hundred fifty bucks
Call the guys in money trucks
I hope my eyes their sight retains
Next time buy a red tipped cane

To die or not

To die or not that is the question

Comes a time for letting go
Not so easy how to know
Do we fight with evry breath
Do we yield to coming death

Are the strong more blessed to live
Are the weak more wise to give
Can we with Grace just say goodbye
Permit those dear ones just to die

Ours is the task to aid our kin
Assist their journey to begin
Sit by their side and hold a hand
Before the pros to take a stand

Perhaps the best we all can do
Is share our wishes so on cue
When it's our turn to fall apart
The docs will know what not to start

The Race is On!

The Race is On!

The race is on they want my vote
And evry where my face is smote
By lies half truths self serving tales
But way to soon to close the sale
So do my best to tune them out
And wait a year to watch them pout
While at this early stage they pose
Write books explore and I suppose
Collect the cash from evrywhere
Dont hold your breath for my poor share

Which Christian?

Which Christian do you mean?

We're painted with just one big brush
But really don't be in a rush
We Christians come in many shades
Like paint that comes in many grades
Some thin as water on a page
Some mystic like an ancient sage
Some hot and hyper full of joy
Some cool reserved painfully coy
There's some who preach out in the street
And some withdraw into retreat
Some fight to right society
And others long for piety
Prosperity is for some the prize
While others long to be so wise
Some choose to reach out to the poor
While others hide behind church doors
So don't pretend we're all the same
Because we all use Jesus' Name

Me the Chef

Me the Chef

Today I am the house hold chef
You may call me Monsieur Jeff
French Onion Soup and Shepherd's pie
A tasty dish one for each eye
And both will whet your appetite
That is if all will come out right

Busy day

There's no comparing days to boring
I'd rather get things done than snoring
Accomplishments set my heart beat soaring
Today was busy reading, writing, more things
