End of Phase One
I’ve lost track of the number of posts like this I’ve written since I started taking writing seriously 18 months ago. But after threatening it for a few weeks, today we’ve finally closed off phase one of our fiction careers by withdrawing Mature, Left Behind and England United from sale. They’re just not up to the standards we want to be setting ourselves, and I think that long term having unedited, poorly written books like those on sale will do my reputation as an author more harm than good...

The WFTI Experiment
We’re three weeks in to We’re From The Internet now, and I think it’s time to draw the curtain back and let people see the thought process behind the new show. Feedback so far has certainly been a mixed bag, with just as many people telling us they love the 10-minutes per day format as hate it. Luckily I’ve never been in the business of trying to please everybody, so I take all the opinions with a pinch of salt, but it is interesting to see just how much a slight tweak to the old Best Thing F...

3 Months To Go…
I originally started writing this post yesterday, because it was exactly 3 months until the first day of the school summer holidays. And I haven’t posted for a while. But once I started to type, it sort of became all about something else entirely, to the point where I’m not really sure what this post is about. Only read on if the idea of exploring the inner workings of my mind appeals to you…
Last year, I spent the whole six weeks of the summer holidays pretty much writing full time (I even b...

I’m Hungry…
After the disaster that was juicing on Monday, I didn’t know what to expect from my first proper fasting day on the 5:2 Diet today.
Depending on what book or website you read, I should either be limiting myself to 600 calories on a fasting day, or 25% of my normal daily calorie allowance. For a normal sized bloke, I imagine they’d be roughly the same number, but being 6’2” and pushing 20 stone my normal daily calorie allowance is somewhere in the 3000-3500 range, again depending on where you l...

Stupid Suburban Parent-Bot Morons
Dear Stupid Suburban Parent-Bot Morons,
Before I get started, let me just congratulate you on achieving everything you ever set out to achieve in life. You’ve got your boring job, your boring house, your boring pastel clothes and your mindless boring kids. I’m happy for you, really.
THAT DOESN’T MEAN I WANT TO JOIN YOUR STUPID CLUB!
I have to work later than usual on a Wednesday because I have staff training after work. Sometimes it’s a struggle to get home much before 5.30, especially if I need...

The 5:2 Juice Diet
I tried juicing again yesterday. I now feel like I’ve recovered enough to talk about it…
I downloaded the 5:2 Juice Diet app over the weekend (that’s right kids, Jason Vale has somehow got another three quid out of me despite making my life a misery).
The general gist is that it’s the normal 5:2 diet that’s been all over the media for the last 2 years, so 5 days of eating normally and then 2 days of calorie restriction at around a quarter of your usual calorie level. For me, that’s 600 calories...
