For those who hate Joe
Joe's anything but perfect. But - and I think that becomes very clear from the books - he's not a bad guy. Like he tells Sarah once, he's not out to hurt people, especially D. He knows very well that he's hurt her and is lucky she as much as talks to him again.

“What do you even want from me,” she grumbled, a tortured tone creeping into her voice. “You should go home to Liz, get married and take care of the baby…”
Joe drew in a deep breath and exhaled audibly. ”Wow, Danny! What great advice! If you were trying to pack the three scariest words into one sentence, you really nailed it!” Leaning in a bit, he squinted at her. “Or are you serious???”
Her eyes darting back at him, D let out a bitter laugh. “Personally, I’ve always found the constellation of just you and her freaky enough - even without the marriage-part and the baby-part. But that’s just me, you know…”
“Okay, I guess you were being serious then,” Joe concluded flatly.”

“Turn it off,” she said, her voice cracking.
“It’s still good music,” Joe told her with an almost apologetic shrug.
“It’s crap,” she breathed, still totally taken aback by the music playing again.
He shook his head. “No, it’s not crap!” he said patiently and started peeling out of his sweater, trying hard not to get his braced hand caught in the sleeve. He emerged, his hair a bit messy, and tossed the sweater back towards the sofa.”

But if there was one person in this world, that he would have sworn, would have an equally hard, if not harder time listening to that stuff, it was her.
