Thank you for the question, Jeff!

I am one of those boring people who likes to read all about history - past and present - so a historical fiction made sense; it gave me an excuse to research a lot of things, from settler/Native American relations, language, and whether canning produce was available in the average 1880's kitchen! This was also a cathartic write, as I personally have dealt with some of the issues of the protagonist and it was (afterwards I realized anyway) a way to do some self-therapy!

Thank you again - I hope you enjoy the book (If you're reading/may someday read it)! Many cheers!!(less)

Honestly, I've tried to plow through when uninspired, but it really works best and most wonderfully if I wait for the moment to hit (usually does every year or every 18 months or so). Which means I have a lot of started ideas, but not so many that are complete yet!(less)

“Wait! It was Narcyz, in bed with Milena, not Marek, kissing her sister and leaving purple-red bruises on her back…”
Sara Dahmen, Seven Nights in the Dying Castle

“Or was it because she had read so many silly tales of dragon-princes and…snake-swan-monkey…”
Sara Dahmen, Seven Nights in the Dying Castle

“You said the magic assumes I will choose home, will choose the easy way… the comfort of returning to what my existence was before. Perhaps the other girls preferred it, and the castle reminds them of what they left behind. Love and happiness and good food. But the only memories I have of Miódshire is decay. I have no desire to return. But to stay here and wed you? A marriage without love? You do not even wish to hold me.”
Sara Dahmen, Seven Nights in the Dying Castle
