Some people call J.D. Brewer a leprechaun, but they just don’t understand that she’s simply vertically challenged. There are those who say she’s fiercer than a baby pterodactyl, despite the fact that she was probably a stegosaurus in another life. Others have titles for her that are a bit more generic: friend, teacher, student, family, etc.

The truth is, she spends her time gathering moments from the people (and puppies) she loves, and from those moments, she creates. She glues letters into words, words into thoughts, and thoughts into questions. When she’s not out having a blast in the universe she shares with you, sh

Teaching Pandemic Style

I don’t know about you, but when I am faced with calamity, I am reactive by nature (or maybe it’s nurture). Knee-jerk reactions are like comfort food to me, and when big things happen, I go nuclear in a flurry of movement to fix the situation.

Time and time again… The world is in shock, and I am in movement.

I do and speak before thinking.

Perhaps it was the only form of control I ever felt I had.

“The way he said it spoke of an ache I recognized. I knew that no matter how similar they were, no two losses were the same, but despite his loss being from a different circumstance, I felt his sadness as my own. We sat there in silence with my hand resting in his. My bandage told its own stories while we remembered the girl who taught Randolf such a valuable lesson about the small turning into the large.”
J.D. Brewer, Vagabond

“Where would the end be? Will the idea—the definition—of perfection stay the same? No. Perfection is too fickle. It’s in our nature to never be satisfied. We always think we can do more.”
J.D. Brewer, Vagabond

“Never take offense. Even if someone is robbing you blind, it’s usually nothing personal. Survival is a funny thing, and we all react differently to it. Some react to fear and forget to be human and humane, but that doesn’t mean they have malicious intentions. People have different boundaries, and I promise to respect yours, hon.”

“What I couldn’t bring myself to hate was the energy. I reveled in the way it ebbed and flowed as people connected over something and the way the multiplication of people intensified it around us. Energy made me both love and hate being in large crowds because there was too much chaos to the peace and too much peace to the chaos.”

“We'd seen it a million times before, since girls on the Tracks rarely knew of loyalty. She'd be gone when the breeze got under her skin. "You can't trust Vagabond hearts. They are already so broken that they think nothing of breaking yours," he had explained once. I wondered who was the first to break his heart–where he'd gained that knowledge the first time around.”

Sorry I didn't see this until it showed up on my feed!

Ummm just from last year??? Agh that's hard but I adored Anna and the French Kiss even though that was older and then the Scarlet series (only books one and two are out) I was OBSESSED with....and then Ugly Love lol. I have loads more but those were my three contenders for 'favorite of 2014' :)

Thanks for accepting! Chatting about books is one of my favorite things to do. :) I'm curious, what is your favorite book/series and character from something you've read this past year?
