Born and reared in Southern California, I joined the Air Force right out of high school. My first winter in the midwest was a shock, but I managed to survive and graduated from North Georgia University with a degree in education. Moving back to California, I finished my master's degree at California State University, Long Beach, and went on to teach middle school and high school social science.
