I'm an author, poet, and editor who helps writers create outstanding, Web-friendly content.

Writing is my life. I've been a writer since I was a kid, and while the handwriting's gotten better and the work's grown more complex, most of my ideas start out with questions like, "What if I walked into the kitchen and a tiny dinosaur was using the sink as a bath?"

Poetry and short fiction are my jams.

When I'm not writing, I'm usually reading, or poking around in nature (which often pokes back).

Find me on Facebook.

I know it's a bit cliche, and it's certainly not a panacea, but there's quite a lot of truth to "solvitur ambulando." Writing's a sedentary profession, as a rule, and sometimes just getting out and breathing the fresh air can blow out the cobwebs and help you grab the tiger by the tail once more.(less)

If you want to be a successful one, spend a large chunk of your time, every single day, writing.

It needn't be some grave masterwork, either. Maybe it's a blog post. Maybe it's a short story. Maybe it's a few poems, or a letter, or what I call an artifact—i.e., a chunk of, or scene from, a story that doesn't quite exist yet.

Whatever you do, keep writing. It's a bit like exercise, in that the more you do it, the more LIKELY you are to do it, and the more rewards you reap.(less)

COVID AND THE DEATH OF EMPATHY

We live in stressful times made more stressful by the naked lack of empathy on display. So many people only seem to realize we're in the middle of a health crisis when they or someone they love is dying in a hospital bed (assuming there's a bed free).

The post COVID AND THE DEATH OF EMPATHY appeared first on Claire De Lunacy™.

“If you want to be a writer, you must do two things above all others: read a lot and write a lot. There's no way around these two things that I'm aware of, no shortcut.”
