Moltbook 3:16 – DTNS Live 5113
We share our feelings about Moltbook, a Reddit-like site for AI agents from popular AI assistant platform OpenClaw. Komei asked what steps any of us have taken to make provisions for our accounts after we die. And the Information reports Nvidia will not be introducing any new GPUs in 2026. Is this the final nail in the coffin for the DIY PC enthusiast hobby?

Google’s AI chatbot, Gemini, reached over 750 million monthly active users in Q4 2025, up from 650 million the previous quarter, though it still trails ChatGPT’s estimated 810 million MAUs. The growth is partly attributed to the launch of Gemini 3, which CEO Sundar Pichai said was a “positive driver” as Alphabet surpassed $400 billion in annual revenue. Google is pushing to sustain momentum with a cheaper AI Plus subscription and continued infrastructure investment, including the Ironwood TPU AI accelerator.

AMD CEO Lisa Su said Microsoft’s next-generation Xbox console, powered by a semi-custom AMD SoC, is “progressing well” and could launch in 2027, earlier than the previously rumored 2028 timeline. The system is part of a multi-year AMD–Microsoft partnership focused on co-engineered silicon, future handhelds, and deeper AI/ML integration in games. The console is expected to function as a hybrid platform, combining local hardware with cloud computing, potentially accelerated by slower-than-expected sales of current Xbox models.

A Senate inquiry is examining whether Meta delayed child safety protections to preserve engagement. Unsealed court documents show lawmakers questioning CEO Mark Zuckerberg over a 2019 plan to make all teen accounts private by default, which was reportedly shelved after internal analysis warned it would “likely smash engagement.” A bipartisan group is also demanding transparency following testimony from a former Meta executive suggesting that business metrics may have outweighed user safety concerns.

European security officials say Russian space vehicles Luch-1 and Luch-2 have spent years intercepting unencrypted communications from key European geostationary satellites, with activity intensifying since the invasion of Ukraine. The intelligence gathering targets older satellites and could enable Moscow to spoof commands, disrupt operations, or coordinate hybrid attacks such as ground-based jamming. Germany’s defense minister called the activity a “fundamental threat” to European security.

Logos Space Services, founded by former Google and NASA executive Milo Medin, has received FCC approval to deploy more than 4,000 broadband satellites by 2035. The company plans its first launch in 2027 and aims to deliver global high-speed internet. Starlink remains dominant, operating roughly 9,600 of the world’s 14,000 active satellites, with regulators expected to approve thousands more. The European Space Agency projects 100,000 satellites in orbit by 2030.

SpaceX is aggressively expanding Starlink, which now accounts for an estimated 50%–80% of the company’s $15–$16 billion in annual revenue. New initiatives include a proprietary Starlink mobile device optimized for neural networks, direct-to-device internet service, and a space-tracking product. These efforts align with Elon Musk’s vision of orbiting data centers following the xAI merger, though experts question whether a Starlink phone could seriously challenge established mobile carriers.

Anthropic used its Super Bowl ads to mock OpenAI’s plan to introduce advertising into ChatGPT’s free tier, depicting a chatbot injecting irrelevant ads into conversations. The campaign triggered a sharp response from OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, who accused Anthropic of dishonesty and authoritarianism while defending ad-supported AI access. Altman also claimed, without evidence, that Anthropic’s products are only for wealthy users.

The family of Samuel Tremblett, a 20-year-old killed in a Model Y crash in October 2025, is suing Tesla for wrongful death, alleging defective electronic door handles prevented his escape from a burning vehicle. The lawsuit cites at least 15 similar deaths since 2016 and comes amid an NHTSA investigation and a ban on the handles in China. Tesla is reportedly redesigning the system to combine electronic and manual releases into a single control.

SpaceX has acquired Elon Musk’s AI startup, xAI, for a valuation of $1.25 trillion, making it the world’s most valuable private company. The merger’s stated goal is to build space-based data centers to overcome the power and cooling constraints of terrestrial AI solutions. The deal is expected to provide a consistent revenue stream for SpaceX through the need for new satellites, but it unites two companies with different priorities: SpaceX’s focus on Starship development and xAI’s high-spending competition with other leading AI firms.

Mozilla is adding a global “kill switch” to Firefox 148, which will allow users to disable all current and future AI features within the browser. This feature, located in a new dedicated AI controls section in settings, is a response to growing user skepticism about integrating generative AI into everyday tools, a sentiment also seen in moves by competitors like Vivaldi and Microsoft. The overall trend suggests that many users, after years of AI hype, prefer a simpler browser experience with an easy way to opt out of AI features.

PayPal announced that Enrique Lores, current board chair and former HP President/CEO, will replace Alex Chriss as CEO and President, effective immediately, with CFO/COO Jamie Miller serving as interim CEO. The change was driven by a lack of alignment between the company’s performance and the board’s expectations, following a report of lower-than-expected Q4 revenue and profit, which caused an almost 18% drop in PayPal’s shares. Lores plans to focus on product innovation, accountability for quarterly results, and accelerating new innovations in the evolving payments industry.

Paris prosecutors have raided X platform offices as part of an investigation that initially targeted the company’s algorithms for data distortion and political content promotion, later adding charges of “Fraudulent extraction of data” and “complicity in the possession of images of minors” related to images created by Grok in late 2025. The raid was conducted by cybercrime units with Interpol support, and prosecutors have summoned Elon Musk and Linda Yaccarino for interviews on April 20, 2026, while announcing they would cease using X for official communication. X previously denounced the probe, denying any algorithmic manipulation.

Google Home’s February 2 update finally added support for smart buttons, allowing single, multi-press, and long press actions to trigger automations via a “Switch or button pressed” starter. This wireless control is currently limited to the Google Home app and excludes Gemini features. The timing is opportune, coinciding with the launch of affordable, Matter-over-Thread buttons from Ikea, which is expected to increase adoption. The update also brought starters for robot vacuum docking and humidity levels, plus a fix for “Video not available” errors.

Adobe is discontinuing its 2D animation software, Adobe Animate, on March 1, 2026, to focus on AI-driven technologies. The decision has angered the user community, which lacks a full-featured replacement. Adobe suggested using parts of other apps like After Effects and Express, stating Animate had served its 25-year purpose. Enterprise customers will receive support until March 2029, while other customers have support until March 2027. Users are recommending alternatives such as Moho Animation and Toon Boom Harmony, with many lamenting the loss of the software, which was a key reason for their Creative Cloud subscription.
