Shawn Sturgeon is the author of a collection of poems, Either/Ur, a finalist for the Independent Publisher Awards (2003), The Paris Review Prize, and a semi-finalist for the Academy of American Poets Walt Whitman Award. Part II of the book, "Fables for Beasts," about the Native American trickster Coyote, was a finalist for the Wick Chapbook Prize. His poems have appeared in The New Republic, The Paris Review, Witness, Western Humanities Review and many other magazines. He has published translations of poems by Celan and Rilke. He has been nominated for three Pushcart Prizes in poetry and one in fiction.
