Peter Last was nearly born in an elevator and has continued to be unconventional ever since. His books include stories about dragons, assassins, and warlocks, often with allegory from his Christian upbringing. Besides writing, Peter’s passion is to provide practical tips to new writers, which is why he coaches aspiring authors and critiques other fantasy & science fiction novels on his website, www.peterlast.com.

Peter got an early start to writing thanks to his lack of social life while being homeschooled. After successfully entering the real world, he graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering, received his commission in the Air Force, and got married, all in 3 weeks. The inability to write - commonly referred to as writer's block - may come from a number of factors, but in my experience it is usually caused by a boring part of the story. The best way to handle this situation is to force a path through the boring part. Write the scene. It will probably turn out to be a boring scene, but this will get you to the next part you are interested in, and just like that, the writer's block has been defeated. As to the boring scene, you can come back in editing to delete or modify it.(less)

This series is usually long and sprawling, and very near and dear to their hearts. I was this way as a new author. My best advice in these situations is to hold off on writing that series. Instead, write three stand-alone books first. The reason for this is very simple: by writing several books, you will get better at writing and find your own writing style. This will set you to do your beloved series the justice it deserves. It will also give you time to plan the series' world, characters, plot, and every other detail necessary to make the story great.(less)
