Saying Goodbye To The Vow That Twisted Fate First Editions

Picture With the second book birthday of my debut epic fantasy novel coming up fast, it's time to share the news that on July 6th, 2023, we'll be saying goodbye to The Vow That Twisted Fate first editions.

Both e-book and the Amazon paperback versions of the first edition (with it's split-character cover) will be leaving retailers on July 6th, 2023, to make way for the new edition.

There's no need to be sad, though! Because a brand new second edition is waiting in the wings!

This newly revised edition will hit e-book retailers on July 9th, 2023, and comes with:

-A whole new custom cover created by MIBLart (courtesy of a giveaway sponsored by Dale L. Roberts ).
-A fully re-edited interior, knocking out the sly typos/grammatical errors that managed to survive FOUR separate editors' eyes in the debut.
-An epilogue featuring special deleted scenes.

A special hardback edition of the newly revised second edition is also in the works, and is tentatively slated for a July 2023 release.

Want to grab a first edition paperback or e-book while there's still time?

-Hop over  here  to grab your copy (e-books are 99-cents and the paperbacks are currently listed at $10.00 US or less in all markets that permitted me to mark the book down).
-OR e-mail me at contact@katherinedgraham.com to request an invoice for a signed first edition paperback (due to ship in July 2023).

Want to be one of the first to hear when the new version goes live in July?

Oracle of Life: The Lords' Gambit Series Volume One Is A Fantasy Finalist In The 2023 Next Generation Indie Book Awards

Picture Oracle of Life: The Lords' Gambit Series Volume One  is a fantasy finalist in the 2023 Next Generation Indie Book Awards!

I can honestly say that I am blown away to have the first volume in my newest Dark Epic Fantasy series place this year, when there were so many other talents authors (some of whom I have read and given five-star reviews to myself) among the competition.

My last book that placed as a fantasy finalist in the 2021 Next Generation Indie Book Awards ( The Vow That Twisted Fate ) was my debut epic fantasy, representing a younger and less experienced writer with big dreams.

Nariah's story is one that means so much to me. I originally wrote her story in my teens during some challenges in my personal life (meaning the entire book had to be revised to bring it up to my current writing standards). The pain of her losses, her need to establish her identity in a very dark world, and her struggles with her personal values/demons still hit me deeply, even now that my own dark chapter is 20 years in the past. Picture As I move forward with releasing the volumes in The Lords' Gambit Series which have been delayed until now (Volumes Three, Four, and Five), it warms my heart to know that someone else has read the first volume of the series that faces darkness head-on, and has resonated with the journey these courageous women are headed down.

If you haven't already read Oracle of Life, you can dive into it now for only 99-C  here .

Monk of DeathThe Lords' Gambit Series Volume Two  is also available, and volume three is soon to follow!

Sign up for my newsletter  here  for updates on my writing journey, and I'll send you a free book as a thank-you!

Goblins, Elves, And Yokai

Picture Right now, with three separate series in the works (which means three separate books are in various stages of drafting, planning, or editing), my newest story about goblins, elves, and yokai has been fantastic fun to write!

Goblin Prince Talum will make his debut in the current work (volume two) in my newest series, alongside a legendary Elf queen and an entire Yokai army.

You can read a sneak peek snippet from the book on Instagram  here  or Facebook  here .

I'll be releasing more sneak peeks and news as the series progresses.

If you're wondering about The Lords' Gambit Series, that series is still at the top of my release list, with volume three (Vanguard of Justice) coming very soon!  Be one of the first to hear news about my writing journey by signing up for my newsletter  here , and I'll send you a free book as a thank-you for signing up!

Update On The Lords' Gambit Series

Picture It's time for an update on The Lords' Gambit Series.

It is with an exhausted, reluctant, and heavy heart that I must announce the temporary cancellation of the pre-orders for the remaining three volumes of the series (Vanguard of Justice, Chronicler of War, and Goddess of Fate).

Thank you so much to everyone who has stuck with me as I've attempted to overcome illnesses and re-write the entirety of Vanguard of Justice (the third volume in the series) for you by April!
Over the weekend, it became clear that I had two choices left for the release of volume three:

1.) Release a roughly-edited, rushed final draft of Vanguard of Justice to you on schedule in April.
2.) Allow the retailers to cancel my pre-orders (which would cancel the rest of the series, too).

You all deserve the best I can give you in this series. Oracle of Life (volume one) and Monk of Death (volume two) are both already available to read. Book three, the file that was completely lost on my drives, though quickly revised, is very rough and needs time to go through the proper editing process before it releases.

What this means for you as readers:

Anyone who pre-ordered should now have received a pre-order cancellation notice from the retailers for books three and four.

I am going to step away from the series for a bit to clear my head and come back to Vanguard of Justice with fresh eyes and a fresh mind, to make this the best book of the series yet. When it's polished and ready for the world, I'll launch the book without a pre-order and let you all know it's available.

If you'd like an update when the book goes live, my newsletter subscribers will hear first (you can sign up here to receive my newsletters).

Thank you all again for your support, and for reading the worlds I've created!

~Katherine

To All The Indie Authors Who Are Wondering If You Should Quit...

To all the indie authors who are wondering if you should quit...

I'm not going to lie to you.

I'm not going to tell you things will get better.

Indie publishing is an uphill battle. Every single day, something is changing. Algorithms change how much they'll show our content to readers. Readers change their reading and reviewing preferences. Distributors change fees, royalty cuts, and audiences. Even our core team of editors, cover designers, and formatters may need time away from the book world at some point, or change careers entirely.

But here's the thing: Our writing lives ARE our own real-life 'stories'. And stories are never smooth sailing all the way through, are they?

To all the indie authors who are wondering if you should quit...

I'm not going to tell you that your book is 'good enough'.

Let's be real, if you've been writing for any length of time, you know what a 'garbage draft' is. And you know that ten years from now, if you keep writing everyday, your best book today will be nothing compared to the work you would craft then.

But if you don't ever write 'early works', 'latter works' can never follow. Besides, there's editors to help us!

To all the indie authors who are wondering if you should quit...

I'm not going to tell you that you're 'worth it'.

In truth, our worth is in no way tied to a dream scribbled on paper or sprawled across a screen. Our worth is not summarized in numbers of followers, downloads, or dollars. It's not even tied to our ability to succeed as an indie author.

Those are all ACHIEVMENTS. Achievements are part of our life's highlight reel, not our life itself.

To all the indie authors who are wondering if you should quit...

I'm not going to tell you that you shouldn't quit.

But know your 'why'. If you can't be honest with anybody else, be honest with yourself before you walk away.

Are the sacrifices that go into this journey (time, money, emotions) more than you can afford or want to pour out at this point in your life? That's okay! Is this a 'later', more than a 'goodbye', to recoup what you've given away during this process? Or are you tired of writing your genrethemes, or in general? Do you need to give yourself permission to change into the growth this journey has taken you through, or give your brain and heart time to catch up with that growth?

Finally, to all the indie authors who are wondering if you should quit...

I am one of you. I am proud of you. And whether or not you choose to rise above this moment of darkness and doubt, I am cheering you on.

Just please, if you quit, please don't ever let your light go dim.

Join the Vanguard of Justice ARC Book Club **Entries Now Closed**

Picture Vanguard of Justice is coming out in just a few short weeks (on March 14th, 2023), but you can read my epic mythological pirate fantasy early if you join the Vanguard of Justice ARC Book Club!

How does it work?

1.) Sign up for the book club below. This will subscribe you to the book club e-mail list.
2.) Grab your weekly excerpts from Bookfunnel (will arrive at your inbox once a week on Sundays, Central Time)
3.) READ the excerpt before the following Saturday
4.) Attend the weekly live chats to talk about the excerpt OR complete the weekly surveys about the excerpt.

NOTes:

1.) There is NOT a free full-length book file; you'll receive the book in chunks as long as you remain an active participant*

2.) There is NO REVIEW REQUIRED. If you do choose to leave an honest review after completing the book, that is appreciated and helpful, but none are required "in exchange" for a free copy.

3.) This is NOT the "final" version of the book. Your feedback can help me adjust and correct any last-minute non-editing oversights before the book goes live. This means there is a high chance that there will be some 'tweaks' to the version the public receives. (AKA - please don't sign up for this if an occasional typo will drive you batty - this is the Advance Reader Copy)

Finally:

Because every book in The Lords' Gambit Series follows a different main character with an entirely new storyline within the same world, there is no requirement or need to have read volumes one and two before picking up  Vanguard of Justice

If you are a reader who likes to know the setup of the world first, you can grab Oracle of Life (Volume One) between now and February 27th 2023 for only 99C (US)  here , and Monk of Death (Volume Two) for $2.99 (US)  here .

**UPDATED 3/5/2023: The book club sign-ups have now closed. To be one of the first people to hear about future ARC teams and book events, sign up for my newsletter here.** Terms/Conditions Vanguard of Justice is a DARK epic fantasy written with readers ages 18+ in mind. Some scenes may be considered disturbing by some readers. Reader discretion is advised.

ARC book club sign-ups for Vanguard of Justice will close at 11:59pm Central Time on Saturday, February 25th 2023, and are open to anyone age 18 or older in any country that allows downloads from Bookfunnel's website.

Everyone who signs up will be e-mailed the first excerpt on Sunday, February 26th, 2023 (Central Time), with subsequent excerpts to be sent on March 5th and March 12th 2023.

Excerpts will be sent in PDF FORM ONLY (which will be watermarked and coded with your specific ID) directly from Bookfunnel; NOT from me personally. These files are NOT meant to be read on mobile, and will need to be downloaded to an actual computer (laptop/desktop) to pull up correctly. If you cannot download PDFs (or open PDFs) this may not be the ARC team for you this go-round.

Weekly book club calls will take place on Saturdays at 11:30AM Central time via Dialpad (meeting invites will be sent out), a web-based conferencing video software similar to Zoom, but with higher encryption/security than Zoom.. During these calls, I will ask for your feedback on certain aspects of the plot/characters and flow.

If you cannot attend the calls (which is totally fine), you have the option to instead complete the survey sent to you AFTER the call is completed. Only participants who missed the call will receive the survey. The surveys are due by 11:59pm Central time the same day they are sent. Anyone who has not completed the survey before the deadline AND missed the call will be removed from the group.

*Active Participant = A member of the book club who is a.) downloading their files from Bookfunnel (not just 'viewing'), as is tracked using the code imbedded in your file, and b.) is either attending the weekly book club calls OR is taking the weekly book club surveys.

NO PURCHASE IS NECESSARY to participate in any way, shape, or form, NOR is any review expected or required in exchange. Your participation in this book club is entirely optional, and will not be impacted by whether or not you have purchased/reviewed my prior works.
