Series Rebrand!

This was *such* a hard decision.
I adored my old covers.
But I wanted something that fit a little better in the genre. I also wanted titles that gave a better indication of what the stories were about.
And so I'm pleased to announce that The Stolen Tears Series has a NEW LOOK!

New Covers. New Titles. Same Epic Stories.
The redesign was done by Bewitching Book Covers by Rebecca Frank. She did an impeccable job of staying true to the magical objects on the previous covers while adding kick-butt re...

Goldie and the Billionaire Bear

I have *always* loved fairy tales.
A few years ago, I had a completely different series in mind for my clean romance pen name and had the covers designed for it only to realize that the covers weren't the right genre. (I was writing historical. They looked contemporary.)
I was devastated!
I'd just spent good money on three covers I could no longer use.
My mom commented that the girl looked like Goldilocks and the idea for my billionaire fairy tales series waltzed right into my head.

To say that ...

Writing Updates!

 Happy New Year, everyone!

I hope you all had a wonderful holiday! I am so excited for my projects coming up in 2021. I have my year planned out, so we'll see how much of it actually goes according to plan. HA!

For my Cortney Pearson name, I'm reworking Princess of Death. I love the book, but readers have said it's slow to pick up and I don't want that at all! So I've redone the opening and added some new scenes. I'll be getting the edits back this week. WAHOO!

This revamp is also in preparation...

Snowed In Release Party and Giveaway!

So last year during December, I took my car through a car wash.

I was jamming out to Christmas tunes.

And an idea struck. What if there was a magical radio from Santa Claus himself that made whatever the listeners hearing come true?

THEN! I got the idea for "Snowed in at the Cottage." For a whole series of books, actually, where people staying at an inn for Christmas hear Santa's radio play and it starts to wreak havoc on their love lives and acts as a matchmaker!

A musical, matchmaking radio? Y...

Your Book Business To-Do List

I had no idea I was starting a business with my books the minute I hit "publish." While I wish I'd know then what I know now, I've had to learn along the way, and my hope is that you can learn from my mistakes without making the same ones yourself!
Here is my business checklist as mentioned in my book, Money-Saving Guide to Self-Publishing.

This is also included in the full 12-page Money-Saving Business Planner that you can access ONLY in my book, Money-Saving Guide to Self-Publishing.

Self Publishing vs. Traditional Publishing

Self-publishing vs. Traditional Publishing

The decision to self-publish can be a daunting one, especially if you, like me, started out writing with the intent of finding an agent and landing a publishing deal.
Sometimes, no matter how hard we try, that dream just doesn't happen.

Many authors see the decision to self-publish as some kind of defeat, when really, making the change to go indie can be so much more. The decision should be made carefully and deliberately.

How do I decide?

If you're in a ...

Behind the Scenes: My Writing Process

My process has changed quite a bit over the years, and the changes have been for the better. I've always been fast, but my routine and method used to hold me back because I would never plot anything! I just dove right in and started, writing random scenes that popped into my head and trying to figure out how they fit together.

So ask yourself--

How many words do I want to get down? What is my time frame?

I'll start by taking an overall look at the story, including genre. Let's say I'm...

Writing Tips and Tricks: Overcoming Writer's Block

It sneaks in like a ninja.

It wedges itself in.

It delays writing goals, adds frustration, and inspires the desire to set a project aside.

Writer's Block. Why it happens and how to kick it in the booty and get going again.

This always happens to me--I have a shiny new idea. I scribble away because the ideas seem to be literally pouring from my fingertips and demand their place on the page. I'm ten thousand words in, fifteen, twenty thousand. Things are right on track and then, without...

Behind the Scenes: My Writing Space

My writing cave has undergone a major transformation.

When my husband and I first bought this house, the walls in this room were dark brown (paneling. Way to go, seventies). The carpet was a shocking orange that would make Ron Weasley proud. Even the shelves were an abysmal shade of brown that would make poop jealous.

We gave the room a makeover. Added a wainscoting beam to divide the walls, painted the top a gorgeous dreamy blue and a soothing gray on the bottom. Sewed curtains, painted the...
