The Ugly Truth About Chasing Your Dream
He bolts from between a set of parked cars. His computer bag slung across his shoulder, slapping against his side, sport coat open, flapping wildly in the wind. His long strides covering yards of concrete per second. After several seconds, his sprint slows a run, then a jog, a walk, and finally he stops. He […]

The Matter of Your Purpose
I end the phone call and toss the phone into the passenger seat. I step out of the car. My eyes are drawn up into the enormity of the night sky. The silence of the desert married with the vastness of the sky remind me of my minor significance within the Universe. I think about […]

The Matter of Success
I say goodbye and toss the phone into the passenger seat. I step out of the car. My eyes are drawn up and into the enormity of the night sky. The silence of the desert married with the vastness of the sky remind me of my minor significance within the Universe. I think about Trent and […]

Why Imagination Is So Essential
The sound flowed from the speakers of the idling car and for the moment all was right with the world. It was a timeless song by Earth Wind and Fire (a.k.a. Elements of the Universe) called Imagination. The lyric, “so I imagine my heart with you, see what imagination can do” brought vividly to mind […]

11 Signs You Might Need a Change in Life
I’m a believer in the statement “when you know better you should do better.” You can be a source of frustration to those around you when your beliefs don’t change though you know better or you know different. It’s like you having a discussion with someone and they still believe the world is flat. How frustrating would that be? If you need a change in life you need to change your beliefs.

Are You a Believer?
During the course of a day I’m exposed to a lot of conversations. At work or on the train commuting to work, I listen to what is being talked about. I like hearing what people are discussing. It gives me an opportunity to pick up new ideas or learn something interesting.

60 Reasons Why You’re Not Successful
I’ve only just a minute,
Only sixty seconds in it.
Forced upon me, can’t refuse it,
Didn’t seek it, didn’t choose it,
But it’s up to me to use it.
I must suffer if I lose it,
Give an account if I abuse it,
Just a tiny little minute,
But eternity is in it.

How to Avoid Being Uncomfortable
My eyes widened as I turned the corner and saw the mass of people in the lobby. Several loosely formed groups were waiting in front of each of the eight elevators. Vince and I looked at one another. We both knew what the other was thinking but I was the one to speak the obvious.

Police Shootings, Their Purpose and Necessity: A Victim’s Perspective
It’s the middle of an afternoon day in April. Just another day, nothing unusual until you get pulled over by the police. The tail light on your car is broken. The officer approaches the driver’s side window of your car.

How to Get The Best Return on Investment
It’s just after 8 a.m. and the parking lot is nearly full, which is usually the case during the week. There are parking spaces closer to the train station if you drive around and search for them, but I park in the rear, which is only an additional 150 yards to the station entrance. I park and start walking to the station. Not far from the entrance to the train station an evening sunset-colored Jaguar with baby skin soft leather comes down the row and turns into an empty space.
