If you want to write, here's what you do: sit down and write. There's no magic formula.

Now, you can read good books on writing, but that well never turn you into a writer. They best way to become a writer is to sit down and write. A simple thing you can do is study good writing. Enjoy books, enjoy the authors you love, and then study their sentences. How are they crafting a sentence? How are they using commas? How often do they use longer sentence that help carry the reader into a longer thought train? Short sentences?

Study good writing. And then take a whack at making some good writing.(less)

Blog Has Moved

If you have kept up with my writing here through RSS or Feedly, I figured I should let you know that you won’t see any more fresh content here.

I’ve moved my writing to a new site, with a new focus, a new interest and passion that God has awakened in me since I’ve started pursuing my Ph.D at Southern Seminary. That interest? Spiritual theology.

I’ll be writing over at SpiritualTheology.net.

“Paul says, “All things were created for him.” Let these four words rest on your heart: All / things / for / him. Paul’s point is so clear, you’ll miss it if you don’t slow down. Jupiter exists for Jesus. Incredible! Clownfish, caramel macchiatos, volcanoes, deoxyribonucleic acid—it’s all his. All for his enjoyment.”
J.A. Medders, Gospel Formed: Living a Grace-Addicted, Truth-Filled, Jesus-Exalting Life

“our greatest accomplishment is something we didn’t do, but rather something that’s been done for us and in us. We boast in Jesus’s cross. Paul”
J.A. Medders, Rooted: Theology for Growing Christians

“We must strive to make the good news the core message we put forth, the chief model we emulate, the leading motivation in obedience, and the proprietary means of growth in the Christian life. Anything else falls dreadfully, woefully short.”
