One mystery in my personal life would be...my husband had a great uncle who was found walking alongside a railroad track in the middle of a deep forest. The child wore only a diaper and was determined to be younger than three. The family took him in while police searched for family. No one claimed him.
It's a good mystery. He grew up and became a hard worker and good family man. The mystery of who he was or where he came from never solved.(less)

I really loved this novel. I wanted it to go on forever. The characters were all so rich and realistic. Their lives were almost tangible. I felt so bad for them, but the murder was discovered near the beginning. I'm glad it wasn't dragged out. I felt ...more

Not my favorite Liz Nugent novel. I definitely didn't like these brothers, especially Will. Though they're all so flawed as to be unforgivable. The flow of the story is quick so I did finish the book. ...more

Despite Hoon's obvious lack of tack and terrible language skills, I like him. While he's not exactly a "breath of fresh air" he's original as a character. This tale which takes place a great deal in Las vegas, was much like former novels in the serie ...more

After the extreme disappointment of of the last novel Death's Saviour, I was not intending to continue, but thought I'd give the author another try. This novel was good enough. The death's were gruesome, but understandable. I like that the author use ...more

I couldn't stand this one. I've read the other DS Tomek Bowen novels and this one was not at all to my liking. The bad guy is a violent pediphile and racist and of course the author keeps calling him "right wing". Too typical of a liberal writer. ...more

When I began this read I was disappointed because it felt like a predictable weird girl downstairs story. I was wrong. It wasn't such a weird girl story at all, and I liked it a lot. Of course, all of J.D. Kirk's novels tend to be well done. ...more

What a great look back on how Tyler started out in the police force. The story was both humorous and tragic. Tyler's childhood friends sister is missing. Tyler is only a probationary constable just starting out and not allowed to use his own initiati ...more

The death of a lovely woman has DS Tomek Bowen stumped. Various likely suspects keep turning up. The actual killer was a complete surprise for me. A good read.

Once again, DS Tomek Bowen must overcome the vagaries of his fellow police officers and the bosses to solve a murder. This one hits close to home because he knew the victim. The strange broken ship part in the harbor left there after WWII become the ...more
