This is how @jeffsessionsal feels about Dominicans. Any Latinos in Alabama please share this post and let’s eject this guy out. Dear Jeff, As a Dominican American I am greatly offended because my parents, siblings, relatives and I have proudly contributed to this country. —Actually much more than many white Americans—Also, a quick history challenge for you: Did you know the Dominican Republic has the FIRST established university, hospital, cathedral, and palace in the Americas? Including the first University of the Americas. YES, older than Harvard!!! So sit down when you talk about skill. Oh and you clearly are unfamiliar with our great skill in baseball? So skillful that EVERY @mlb team has a farm in DR. And I can go on and on about you clearly did not research before you included Dominicans in your derogatory speech. You are a racist bigot and should never represent anyone in the US Senate.

A message to my fellow LATINOS:
These are my wonderful parents. Both Dominican, YET two different races. Because guess what? BEING LATINO is an ETHNICITY not our RACIAL makeup. I’ll make it more clear— The term LATINO/A represents ethnicity and culture, NOT a race. ETHNICITY and RACE are two different aspects of our IDENTITY. ALL LATINOS need to reconcile with the FACT that LATINOS are composed of different races including BLACK and INDIGENOUS, but the EURO-WHITE SPANISH colonialism mentality still has a ruling effect in ALL our countries. So when we protest #BlackLivesMatter we are protesting for our lives too, because in America our “LATINIDAD” doesn’t save us. We too are judged by the color of our skin. AND we also protest to end the anti-blackness and colorism within our own culture.
PS. If any Latinos have an issue with what I have said please read and do some research. Learn correct terminology. Knowledge and education is power. STOP calling yourself SPANISH unless you or your parents were BORN in SPAIN. STOP calling yourselves HISPANIC and learn that’s a word the USA made up for their census AND the root of the derogatory term “SPIC”. Also, please understand you can be racist and be Latino. Because I’ll say it again for the ones in the back, LATINO is our ETHNICITY not our RACE. If you’re a white Latino check yourself, your actions, and your words. Does our learned behavior align with LOVE??? Case Adjourned… #MMCM

I know that many of you feel helpless and frustrated with the countless number of cases that showcase racism in America. We’ve watched the footage, we are hurt, what should we do? How can we improve racial tensions and change the system? I have asked myself a number of questions in relation to the mistreatment and prejudice that people of color constantly face not only in America but almost everywhere in the world and I’ve understood that it’s plain and simple: Any kind of unjust, privilege thinking and behavior starts AT HOME. Our thinking is first programmed by our parents and then conditioned by our environment. So sadly underlying, covert racism has been passed down generation after generation by the use of subtle racist remarks and/or “jokes” and by the constant use of stereotypes. Most likely when someone uses covert racist language they believe they are not racist simply because their behavior is not blatant— their racial “jokes” are not public slurs. When in reality covert racism is far more dangerous, because it tricks the mind into thinking that “mild” behavior is OK. I urge you to dissect your own behavior, perception and language towards all people. I urge you “to check” your friends and family when they use colorful, racist, stereotypical language. Let them know when their language and behavior is hurtful, upsetting and plain WRONG. I urge you to put a stop to the generational pattern by informing yourself and putting into practice inclusivity, love and fair behavior. It takes more time to see results of behavioral change but it’s the true change that needs to happen. The root is rotten, watering the plant won’t suffice. #MMCM

A poem in my upcoming #EighteenInchesBook that I feel many will relate to. “Why do I seek in humans what already exists inside me?” — Believe me we have all of the love we need within us, but we fail to nurture ourselves how we’re supposed to. After all it’s always easier loving someone else first. Self-care is important and it begins with learning what works for you and what triggers your happiness and your peace. More gems will be found in “EIGHTEEN INCHES” available for PRE-ORDER NOW! #MMCM

It’s getting close to that time for me to host a “fabulous” book...

It’s getting close to that time for me to host a “fabulous” book launch dinner. It takes so much work, preparation and prayer to make these events happen, although to some it might seem effortless. They only see the final fancy pictures, without knowing about all the DRAMA that goes on behind the scenes. Although, it seems as if I always have everything under control, the truth is I’m just another flawed woman battling anxiety behind closed doors. Another woman trying to make all of her dreams happen. One who Is trying to prove the naysayers wrong, and leave a piece of her soul behind on this planet in the form of Art. Yet, the immense pressure of unbecoming especially as the release date approaches, because after all we live in a world where numbers seem to be the only thing that counts. It feels as if many things are on the line for me with this new book, but then again diamonds are formed through violent pressure and change. I’m grateful for having people in my corner who believe in me and are fighting the fight with me. Also, I’m forever grateful for all of those who write me sweet messages daily sending love and support! Everyone who has pre-ordered “EIGHTEEN INCHES” and is excited to read it. I am truly blessed and thankful to be walking in purpose. #JustAThankYouNote #Gratitude #MMCM
