My novel Tides of War is historical fiction. While the main characters are fictional, the events they confront were real events. Many of the characters are historical people. Some, like Henry Benning, are relatively well known. Others, like John Lindsay, are more obscure. All of the publications mentioned in the novel were actional books or periodicals. The battle accounts of the 2nd Georgia Volunteer Infantry are documented in official records, newspaper accounts, and private letters. In researching material for these accounts I was able to trace their locations in Antietam National Battlefield, Gettysburg NB, and Chickamauga NB.
