Casaroja Reviewed in The Latin Mass

Casaroja has just received a new and strongly positive review in The Latin Mass magazine, vol. 25, no, 2 (Winter/Spring 2016), by Monsignor Barreiro-Carambula, Rome Director of Human Life International and a frequent contributor to the magazine. An excerpt:
“The main issue of the book is the description of the terrible damage done by priests influenced or in some cases dominated by a Marxist ideology. The author uses valuable literary tools from well organized flashbacks to very revelatory dreams to tell his story. He provides an excellent description of revolutionary priests through Father Matthew, a fine and dedicated priest full of apostolic zeal. After reading this valuable novel we are looking forward to reading the other novels on which the author is working, part of a series called The Long Exile, presenting a chronicle of the history of the Catholic Church in America and its missionary efforts."

Casaroja

Casaroja begins at twilight in June 1988, in the highlands of war torn Guatemala. On a remote mountain pass, two small men, a ladino and a Kekchi Mayan, crouch for cover as a gruff horseman appears, wearing a kerchief. Government death squads still roam the nation’s traditional Mayan homelands, where hundreds have been massacred during what is now known as the la violencia, the years of the Rios Montt regime. The two have been awaiting a young americáno mission priest, who they are to escort on a safe passage to the village of Casaroja, perhaps attacked by the army. This mission has been out of ham radio contact for over five years when the novel begins.
