Seventy Years After The Tragedy

Who would have thought something so tragic and painful that happened to me 70 years ago, could still be helping so many people today.

I am amazed that God is still using me and keeping me healthy to get the job done. What a gift God has given me with Forrest Haggerty bringing my story to life in book form and now Tim Lowry and Mike Wech creating the documentary and feature film out of my life story.

Check out the Film Here

When the 10 minute documentary was finished, Tim drove to my house to show it to me. The moment I saw it I began to cry. Since then I have watched it over 100 times and I have cried over 100 times. It warms my heart to see the gift God has given me and to know He will use this to bless many generations to come.

Recently, the short film was recognized at a film festival and I was asked to walk the red carpet. As I approached, the photographers and crowd started clapping. I quickly looked around to see if I could recognize the celebrity behind me, but nobody was there. I couldn’t believe they were all applauding for me.

Like I said earlier, the older I get the more exciting life becomes. At 92 years of age, I don’t know how many more days I will have left on this earth, but I will continue to use every opportunity I get to honor the promise I made to God that day on the raft.

No matter where life takes us or how hopeless we may feel at times, none of us should ever forget that God is a good God, and when God says he will answer our prayers, then He will answer our prayers. But first, we need to understand what true prayer is. True prayer is one hundred percent selfless and directed toward those who need it the most. If we ask God to bring us gifts of materialism for our own selfish desires, it probably will not happen. But, if we have given our all, and there is nothing else we can do, and we ask God to feed us when we are hungry and when we have no food, He will always answer our prayers. He will always get us through our storms.

My First Blog post at age 92

I would have never dreamed all this technology would be available in my lifetime. I grew up in an era without cell phones, internet, video games or televisions.

My how times have changed. For the last 70 years I've travelled around the country sharing my story. From church groups to schools to youth events, I feel it is important to be able to communicate with each other and encourage one another in times of need and trouble.

I'm hoping my story of faith and survival in the midst of impossible odds can make an impact in your life and help you see that God will never leave you or forsake you if you call on Him with all your heart and believe in His word.

It took me 6 days stranded at sea without food or water, watching my friends die, dealing with depression, hopelessness, failure and fatigue, at the edge of losing my sanity to truly understand God at work in my life.

My prayer is that you can take this book and absorb the lessons I learned, without the experience of such deep tragedy.

For those of you who are dealing with unsurmountable odds, heartache, pain, oppression and other mountains in your life, may my words be encouragement and hope that God will deliver you as he did me. For God is not a respecter of persons and we are all equal in His sight.

The victory comes in understanding His Spirit, His Word and His love for you.

I want you to experience the joy and deliverance I received so much, that I am giving my book away.

All I ask is that you help out by writing an honest review of my story and share it with others.

Thanks and Enjoy Six Days On A Raft
