Hi!

You're absolutely right, the books in the Read by Candlelight series are not in chronological order. Currently, the time line goes:

The Secretary and the Ghost
The Mystery of Brackenwell Hall

The Haunted Bedchamber

The Vampire's Relic
Book 7 (no title as yet--in the early plotting stages!)

The Art of Drowning (book 6--tentative release date August 10th)

The Well-dressed Werewolf

I appreciate that this non-linear way of writing is not going to please everyone! However, I'm finding that taking this approach to the series gives me a lot of freedom to explore this world and write what most calls to me.

It also gives me the chance to do things like pivot and write the story of how Leighton and Cross adopt their son, which wasn't part of my original plan. But I've had a few people telling me they want to read this story, and I'd like to tell it!

I was planning to make a chronological list once the series was complete, but I hope this will tide you over until then. And if you ever want to know more about a particular book, let me know! (less)

Thanks for the question, Andrea!

I'd say Thorns and Fangs is a series, in that each book is a complete story with a firm ending. But the MC's relationship progresses over each book -- book 1 is where they meet and it ends on a HFN, book two furthers their relationship, book 3 is going to take it even further. So on the romance front, you could argue it is a serial, but on the paranormal side, each book is a self-contained story.

Let me know if this helps, or if you need more info!(less)

The author who forgot her own book launch.

Yeah, this is exactly what the title says. Spoiler: the author is me.

I’ve been in a bit of funk this week. I organise myself on a quarterly basis, and I’ve realised that, although I’ve done a lot of stuff over the last three months, writing was not one of them. There was plotting and planning and trying to write. Actual words? Not so much.

Not writing makes me miserable. Beating myself up about no

“The first part of a spell is to start with something true. Then you add the made-up bit, the thing you want to happen— the story. The more clearly you can envision it, the more detail it gathers, the more people that know it, the bigger its influence goes. And if the person speaking it has the gift for it, then the story comes true.”
Gillian St. Kevern, Deep Magic

“A belief in God does not preclude a belief in other things,” he said. “In fact, I find it encourages it. If you believe in God you must accept the devil. Accept the devil, and you accept there are things not of God that wield powers undreamt of by the common man, and exist outside of man’s knowing.”
