So It Begins

I'm published! I don't see any other authors on Goodreads geeking out about existing, or rating other people's books. I suppose it's unprofessional or something of the sort... Maybe it would cause rivalry. Imagine a great Author War, the most vicious you can think of, where all authors did was rate each others' books poorly to get revenge for a rating. Hm. That sounds a little frightening. It's almost as frightening as the way I ramble on and on.
I suppose I don't know how to write in a blog. What am I supposed to blog about? What do I say?
Do I talk about how I'm finally published? Do I talk about how, in first grade, I was told that Christopher Paolini was published when he was eighteen? It became my goal right then to beat him. I wanted to be published before I turned eighteen. I would never be as impressive as Amelia Atwater-Rhodes, who I heard once was published when she was thirteen, but I would still be impressive in my own right. I would be published before I was even a legal adult.
Here I am, eleven years later. I'm published, and a good six months before the deadline. I know that Mirrored is not the most fantastic piece of literature ever to be released. (J.K. Rowling, Holly Black, Gena Showalter, and Tahereh Mafi more than obliterated that chance) but it exists. It's out there, for people to see, for people to buy and maybe even for a moment for people to enjoy. That's such a magical idea. I could improve a stranger's day by creating a book they came to love.
That, I think, would be utterly amazing. That would be show-stopping, more so than Marilyn Monroe's smile or Chris Hemsworth's abs.
So, hello. Hello, Goodreads. I hope we have an amazing relationship, that some of your members read and rate my book, and that I will never forget how thrillingly excited I am in this moment.
