Born and raised in York, UK, Chris deserted his hometown to study at John Moore’s University in Liverpool. He is a Yorkshireman at heart but would like to think of himself as an adopted Scouser, too. After a long time living in Liverpool, he moved with his partner to Germany, where he resides today. This was back in the day when British people could live freely in any country in the EU.

His taste in books has varied over the years and this can be seen in the books he has published. The Most Ferocious of Creatures and Time Travelling Dino’s: The Pilot, are humorous books for younger children. Both explore language and are a little silly, to be honest.

The length of your walk will really depend on where your nearest hardware store is located. You don’t really have to walk either, a car, scooter, bus, etc. offer a much easier way of fulfilling the same task. Anyway, enter your nearest hardware store and find the largest hammer available. You can then use the hammer to smash the writer's block to pieces. If you are unable to do so yourself, or you are simply not inclined to use hammers, a friendly store assistant will more than likely leap at the chance to help you out.

There is of course a non-violent way to deal with such blocks and that is often found in a bottle, a rather large bottle containing a hammer. Okay, so it is not exactly non-violent but those blocks are awfully mean. (less)

On writing: Breaking the Rules

I like adverbs.

There, I said it.

I am well aware that most writers cut adverbs out of their writing, and rightly so. Most of the time adverbs are useless, adding nothing to the feel of the story. However, there are times when adverbs can add a great deal to a story, and the overall feel of it. I’m not talking about one of your romance novels or one of your crime dramas. No, they follow a solid st Read more of this blog post »
