Diane Merrill Wigginton, born in Riverside, California, in 1963, grew up in
the vibrant community of Mira Mesa, San Diego. From a young age,
Diane developed a deep passion for storytelling, inspired by the
adventures of her childhood in the 1970s and early 1980s. Spending
summers on her grandparents' ranch in Idaho, Diane learned the value of
animals, nature, and storytelling that would shape her future writing
career. After marrying her husband, David, in 1998, Diane and her family lived in
Encinitas before moving to Herald, California in 2001. They embraced a

The Day The Lights Turned on For Me

The day the lights turned on for me, as a writer was an amazing day. Before that time I had enjoyed writing poetry and special little things for my family and friends, but I had never considered myself one of "those people." You know the ones I'm referring to. Someone who had something to say, that might interest more than their mother or a few close friends.
It was March, 2013 and I had just turn Read more of this blog post »

The Magician Killer by Diane Merrill Wigginton
"The writing was impeccable. It was easy to follow and get into. The characters were well developed with clear flaws that make them relatable and realistic which is the mark of good character development.

“Bringing her eyes down again, Catherine found herself gawking at Jake’s perfectly formed, muscular chest and stomach. She felt her cheeks flush when she he noticed that his towel was still parted, showing off a very lean, muscular leg.”

“No one else can close the door that God has opened for you,” she quietly said under her breath. That was something that Grandma Alice had said to her many times before her death.

“I miss you, Alice,” she whispered, “and wish you were here with me now.”
Diane Merrill Wigginton, A Compromising Position

“Crickey, love, what happened here? Are you hurt?” he asked, lifting her to her feet, the surfboard leash still wrapped around her foot.

Her eyes worked their way up his torso, along the plush green towel hugging his midsection. Catherine couldn’t help staring at his well-formed abs and chest before making her way up to his concerned eyes.

“Obviously I fell,” Catherine said. “I think I got a splinter.”

“Let me see,” Jake insisted, taking her hand into his. “It’s small. I can take care of that in a snap.”

Staring up into his deep blue eyes, Catherine could feel herself drowning in the depths of them, unconsciously resting her other hand upon his dampened chest to steady herself.”

“Chase looked like a drowning man without a life preserver, and by the look in his eyes, he was going under for the third time.

“I knew you would be like the waters of the South Pacific Ocean.”

“I beg your pardon?”

“I liken people to different bodies of water,” he quickly explained.

“You what?”

“Each ocean has a different personality,” he said to clarify. “The Pacific Ocean is warmer and inviting, but the color is muddied in places. The Arctic Ocean is cold and very uninviting, one might even say that it is not very appealing, but it’s full of life. Then there is the South Pacific Ocean, warm, inviting, and crystal clear. It has this purity to it. Why, the coloring of the water is some of the brightest blue I’ve ever seen in my entire life. There are even places that you can see thirty meters down.”
