Robert Martin was born in Puerto Rico to Mennonite parents who taught him to engage the world around him, be a witness in who he is and what he does, and to seek to connect across cultures. He has a BA in Mathematics Education from Messiah College and an MA in Theology and Church Leadership from Biblical Theological Seminary.
Robert lives in Pennsylvania outside of Philadelphia with his wife, Heather, and his two children. He is a "tent-maker" in his career as a computer software tester. When he is not breaking software programs, he enjoys reading, writing on his blog, Abnormal Anabaptist, gardening, and enjoying good times with his family. You can usually find Robert online interacting with a broad network of like-minded Anabaptist thinkers

My blog is my repository of my writing and thinking. Eventually, though, I may find the inspiration to write on something more. For right now, I'm content just putting up occasional reflections.(less)

There were books for caregivers out there, but nothing for the spiritual aspect of a caregiver's life. As an Anabaptist, I gravitate towards the principles and ideas taught in Matthew 5-7 and so the 8 principles, specifically, in what is known as the beatitudes seemed to fit the best.(less)

What am I?

I am a disciple of Jesus.

There, I answered the question already. Guess I’m done this post (my first new content in QUITE a long time).

But wait…what does that actually mean? This simple sentence has a lot packed into 6 words. So, let’s break it down.

I

It’s me, Rob. I am a person. I believe, specifically, that as a human being (homo sapiens) I hold a unique place in creation as being an “image of God

A short review.

I give this four stars because it is not going to appeal to everyone. it's not a novel as much as it is a compilation of various notes in chronological order detailing the history of Numenor. it is very well put together and the editor

“Good. Item seven. The had had and that that problem. Lady Cavendish, weren’t you working on this?’

Lady Cavendish stood up and gathered her thoughts. ‘Indeed. The uses of had had and that that have to be strictly controlled; they can interrupt the imaginotransference quite dramatically, causing readers to go back over the sentence in confusion, something we try to avoid.’

‘Go on.’

‘It’s mostly an unlicensed-usage problem. At the last count David Copperfield alone had had had had sixty three times, all but ten unapproved. Pilgrim’s Progress may also be a problem due to its had had/that that ratio.’

‘So what’s the problem in Progress?’

‘That that had that that ten times but had had had had only thrice. Increased had had usage had had to be overlooked, but not if the number exceeds that that that usage.’

‘Hmm,’ said the Bellman, ‘I thought had had had had TGC’s approval for use in Dickens? What’s the problem?’

‘Take the first had had and that that in the book by way of example,’ said Lady Cavendish. ‘You would have thought that that first had had had had good occasion to be seen as had, had you not? Had had had approval but had had had not; equally it is true to say that that that that had had approval but that that other that that had not.’

‘So the problem with that other that that was that…?’

‘That that other-other that that had had approval.’

‘Okay’ said the Bellman, whose head was in danger of falling apart like a chocolate orange, ‘let me get this straight: David Copperfield, unlike Pilgrim’s Progress, had had had, had had had had. Had had had had TGC’s approval?’

There was a very long pause. ‘Right,’ said the Bellman with a sigh, ‘that’s it for the moment. I’ll be giving out assignments in ten minutes. Session’s over – and let’s be careful out there.”

“The cross is not a detour or a hurdle on the way to the kingdom, nor is it even the way to the kingdom; it is the kingdom come.”

“[from the television show,"Evade the Question Time"]

At the end of the first round, I will award three points to Mr. Kaine for an excellent nonspecific condemnation, plus one bonus point for blaming the previous government and another for successfully mutating the question to promote the party line. Mr. van de Poste gets a point for a firm rebuttal, but only two points for his condemnation, as he tried to inject an impartial and intelligent observation.”

“If you even *need* a government, added Stig, "you are a life-form flawed beyond redemption.”

“Grace is not opposed to effort, it is opposed to earning. Earning is an attitude. Effort is an action. Grace, you know, does not just have to do with forgiveness of sins alone.”
