Sadly, Tony passed away August 7, 2019. I am his wife and will continue to manage his books.

Pilot, spacecraft navigator, author: Tony Taylor flew fighters in the Air Force and later navigated NASA spacecraft to all eight planets of the solar system, adding minor planet Pluto in 2015 to maintain bragging rights for “all the planets” in case it’s promoted to full planethood again.

His latest novel, The Darkest Side of Saturn, reflects many of his NASA experiences and won several honors, including First Place for Commercial Fiction in the 2016 Eric Hoffer Book Awards and Book of the Year in the 2015 Arizona Literary Contest. His first novel, Counters, drew on air combat experiences in Vietnam and won an Honorable Mention in the Hoffer Awards. B

No. It merely moves the problem from the realm of the impossible to the realm of the barely possible.
It's always an adventure, because there are always millions of ways a mission can fail, but only a single way for it to succeed.(less)

It’s probably subconsciously a childish desire for attention: “Look, mommy, look what I wrote.” I can remember the first time I wrote an essay in grammar school that I enjoyed writing, probably around the 4th grade. I put considerable effort into it and used some fancy-schmancy words and embarrassingly cloying phrases. The teacher praised it and I thought, Whadda’ya know, I can write! That was a revelation, because previously I’d hated it. Just the fact that that memory has been in my head so long tells you it must have been important.(less)

My newest blog site is:

http://BlackSkyVoyages.com/blog/

I'm currently posting there about navigating the New Horizons spacecraft to its historic flyby on 2015/07/14.

I won't be posting here on Goodreads until I figure out how to get an RSS feed going.

“He’d lived in the desert all his life, and he loved it. He was its child. It was his home.”
Tony Taylor, Counters

“When you're a kid, you don't get to do anything.
When you're a grown-up, you don't want to do anything.”
Tony Taylor, The Darkest Side of Saturn: Odyssey of a Reluctant Prophet of Doom

“There was no fear of sandpaper earth, no sense of danger from a bare-skinned spill, for the boy was a child—a six-foot, one-inch growing child who knew nothing of accident, injury, dismemberment, death—who would study those lessons tomorrow, thank you, but not today. Today, it would be sufficient to be wild and free.”
Tony Taylor, Counters

“An idea is something you have; an ideology is something that has you”
Morris Berman

“Whoever fights monsters should see to it that in the process he does not become a monster. And if you gaze long enough into an abyss, the abyss will gaze back into you.”
Friedrich Nietzsche

“Never shake hands with a scorpion.”
Beau Johnston

“Strong and bitter wordes indicate a weak cause.”
Victor Hugo

“Blogging: Never before have so many people with so little to say said so much to so few.”
