Black/Blue Lives Matter - A National Bruise

I am growing weary of the torrent of pro/anti police propaganda clogging up my Facebook newsfeed. I'm not taking sides, there are too many sides to this cluster-fuck to pick just one, just stating a fact -- My feed is full and it's getting tiresome.

First, I understand the rage from those who have lost someone to a police shooting. Regardless of what the person had done, whether the shooting was "clean" or not, it has to be nearly impossible to contain the surge of emotion that erupts at...

Shit... HE came back?

Hey, you see how my coin blog just cleared 10K views?

Didn't notice? Well fuck you. You probably don't collect coins. But it is a big deal to me. I got people to come back to my niche site a ton of times. Yup, I'm calling it. 2000lbs worth of times. Probably not far off the mark. By myself I clear more than 10% of that. (Rockin' a flabby 245.)

I am plotting on a publishing website to serve up decent previews of books, indie and otherwise. Just gotta spend a little dough to get it off...

While the details of his early release are fuzzy, he knows it was because of a man named James Tamlin. Upon arriving at Tamlin's home, where he is to stay, Paul learns the conditions of his freedom. He must steal a rare coin for his host's collection. He quickly begins to doubt the safety of his surroundings. When it appears everyone has an agenda, he must fig...

Zen and Writing

ZEN AND WRITING

In the beginning, a story is a twinkle of light in a dark void. At that moment, the birth of a story, there are infinite possibilities. That twinkle of light can become anything. It is the writer's job to clear their mind of all else and focus on shaping the bit of light into something wonderful.

Joshu's Dog

"A monk once asked Joshu, “Has a dog the Buddha-nature?” Joshu answered, “Mu!” (Mu is the negative symbol in Chinese, meaning `No-thing’ or `Nay’.)" (www.th...

Kendall Who?

Very few people in Marshall, MN know my name. Those who might recognize me know me as the guy from Charter, one of the cable companies in town. I am the one they have to come see if they are having a problem, need to ask a question but loath the call center, are paying their bill, and a myriad of other reasons. Most don't like dealing with the cable company and I can't say that I blame them. Charter is a huge corporation and it is my job to adhere to their policies which seldom reflect t...

My Next Book - Chapter 1

My newest project is a crime serial. While I refuse to commit to a definite schedule, here is what I know for sure. There will be four episodes to the first book. Episode one is in editing and rewrites as I type this, and I hope to have it out early in January 2016. My plan is to have all four episodes out by the end of 2016.

I do not have a definite title for episode one yet, but the name of the series is Human Hacker. It reads more like crime noir than The Dead Don't Speak. Here is Chapter 1...

Tidbits on Storytelling

"A story is a chain of events that begins at one place and ends somewhere else." - Randall Jarrell

There are a few basic parts of writing often overlooked by new authors. They are things many of us take for granted as we begin a journey in storytelling. Fundamental concepts like voice, style, and structure are important to thoroughly understand as they will shape everything we write.
The planning and execution of writing a story can be a mind boggling process. Balancing all the eleme...

Job Hunting is a Crap Shoot

In my search for a new job I've come face to face with a frustrating realization- the ability to process and quickly assimilate information is not taken into account on an application. What's more, the ability to identify and disregard misinformation is not a quality employers seek.

I do not have a college degree. At eighteen years old, I did not see the point in going to college and accumulating debt when I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life. Immature decision fo...

Politically Purple

I used to enjoy some political sparring with people I didn't agree with. It was entertaining and filled my free hours. When I began writing, my free hours evaporated and I left politics to those more interested.

Things were good, so, so good. I completed two novels and a lot of short fiction. I began a few other novels that fizzled and died. Unfortunately for me, I enjoy being on Facebook. I was able to ignore the parade of political absurdity I saw, until last week.

What first attracted my att...

Literary Classics Reviewed by Godfrey

I have a cousin, Godfrey, who has a degree in communications. He believes this entitles him to give his opinion on anything and everything. Most of the time, the guy doesn't really get it. On top of that, he belongs to a mega-church that preaches hellfire. He's a lot of fun to talk to drunk. I've asked him to review some classic novels he read in high school and college. I told him I would be posting them on Amazon to help keep readers informed. Here is the result.

The Grea...
