It seems that everyday, I learn another amazing aspect to the history surrounding the Romanovs. I happened upon a video of the Imperial hospital trains and was transfixed: How they served the wounded Russian soldiers at the front during WW I...These were the Tsar's troops and they were being slaughtered and those who survived, had terrible wounds. Whenever possible, they were rescued and placed in a bed on one of these hospital trains. See how neatly and sterile they were prepared- the train car turned into an ER ward- the galley a sterilizing room with boilers to sanitize the dressings, bedding, surgical instruments. This particular train was the #14 Princess Zinaida Yusupuv's- She was the wealthiest and most beautiful heiress in Russia and she chose to dedicate herself to this way of saving soldiers...Follow the video and see all the amazing images of this beautiful noblewoman.
