Vicky's Pirate Adventure

So, I decided to call Vicky's new book Vicky's Pirate Adventure. The name will work well in Amazon's search feature, so I'll leave it alone. I updated the title of the series from The Adventures of Vicky Van Goat to the The Farm Adventures of Vicky Van Goat.

But that's enough of the boring stuff. Let's talk illustrations. So, I had an artist, Tanja, create a watercolor picture of Vicky to use in the imagination sequence that makes up most of Vicky's Pirate Adventure.

How do you like the picture?
I think it's great. I am trying to convince my little brother to finish the artwork, but if he decides not to, I think Tanja will be asked to complete the rest of the illustrations.

I'm excited to finally see the book coming together. There was a lot of internal wrestling with whether or not to stick with the watercolored photographs for consistency, but, in the end, it made the most sense to start off the book with a watercolored photograph, but then move right into watercolored pictures representing Vicky's imagination.

I hope you will stick around to see how Vicky's Pirate Adventure turns out.

Review: The Big Brass Band

I had the pleasure of reviewing an adorable children's book The Big Brass Band. This book has a lot going for it. It rhymes and I love children's books that rhyme! The story line itself was fun and humorous. Lastly, the story had colorful and expressive illustrations. Overall, it was a very good book. I recommend for kids ages 3-8.

Finished writing Vicky's pirate adventure story

I finished writing Vicky's pirate adventure book. The book needs a name. I was thinking of taking suggestions from Vicky's fans or even making it into a contest to name the book.

It is also time to get to work on the photography for the book. I have a few photos taken, but there is much left to do. Finding a treasure chest to photograph may be an adventure in itself. I think Ms. Angela has one at the church for prizes, and that just might work. This part will be fun and challenging.

Keep watching the blog for more on my upcoming book.

Vicky's Eye Patch

Vicky had pink-eye recently. The sun was bothering her eye, so we decided to put a patch on it to protect it. Vicky tried to get the patch off at first, but gave up and wore the patch for a couple of weeks.

Her eye patch provided inspiration for the next book in the Vicky Van Goat series. Look for Vicky and her daughter, Darci to become a pirates in the next adventure of Vicky Van Goat.
