I'm not saying that it's not a good advice (it's a great advice to follow), being a new writer, I guess the best advice I could give is to "find your voice." It's hard to sustain literary works with a voice that's not natural to you -- although, it comes easy for some. Finding your voice will lead to cementing your identity as an author, and that's one of your main goals especially when you're starting out.(less)
