Usually, the first thing I try is to do something active. Practicing yoga, cooking, gardening, or just going for a walk usually clear my head and get ideas flowing. If that doesn't work, I'll try free writing or outlining the important events I need to happen in the current scene or chapter. If I'm still stuck, I'll leave my writing alone for a while and read. Sometimes, a good book is all you need to get inspired!(less)

Jack London
“I would rather be ashes than dust!
I would rather that my spark should burn out in a brilliant blaze than it should be stifled by dry-rot.
I would rather be a superb meteor, every atom of me in magnificent glow, than a sleepy and permanent planet.
The function of man is to live, not to exist.
I shall not waste my days trying to prolong them.
I shall use my time.”
Jack London

J.R.R. Tolkien
“I wish it need not have happened in my time," said Frodo.
"So do I," said Gandalf, "and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.”
J.R.R. Tolkien, The Fellowship of the Ring

William Shakespeare
“Love all, trust a few,
Do wrong to none: be able for thine enemy
Rather in power than use; and keep thy friend
Under thy own life's key: be check'd for silence,
But never tax'd for speech.”
William Shakespeare, All's Well That Ends Well

“Sometimes you have to make sacrifices for the ones you love.' There was a tremble in her usually strong voice. 'Sometimes you have to give up more than you ever thought you could and hope that it’s all worth it in the end.”
Julia Lee

Sarah Addison Allen
“Sometimes its necessary to embrace the magic, to find out what's real in life, and in one's own heart.”
Sarah Addison Allen, First Frost
