Living in England on the Hampshire / Surrey border, CJ is a married father of three grown sons and has written for pleasure for more decades than he cares to admit. Growing up on an old fashioned country estate, he would often be found among the trees of a nearby wood with a book for company.
After receiving a generous payment to leave the Ministry of Defence in one of the rounds of Government budget economies, he turned his attention to writing with an aim to publish. His first work ‘Her Name is James’ has finally been published after a long delay and Dark Angel is the second complete work but the first to be published. My Dark Angel trilogy is quite a complex narrative that blends Gothic / Dark Fantasy with a touch of horror and romance. Character driven rather than propelled by events. It's Angels and Demons with 'Dark Angels' trying not to take sides less they be damned or saved.
Her Name is James is possibly as far as you can go in the other direction. A 'weepy' that tugs on emotions as you follow James when he faces the consequences of coming out as transgender to his family. It gets complicated when a friend declares she loves James.
Neither of those answers really sum up how I write except to say I try to have the reader live all the characters they read about. (less)

The first book I remember choosing to read was about a year later when my reading had improved, that was The Hobbit.(less)

Changing genres

Five novels, one novella and three years later, I'm just about set to leap into the world of science fiction and fantasy.

Two new works completed but one is being put away for now.
