New Series Coming 2021???

Hey, guys! I know it's been a long time since we talked (and really since I've even been on Goodreads) but, well, it's time to talk!

For the past several years, since beginning The Afterlight Chronicles in 2016, I've been secretly working on another series that I am so excited to tell you guys about!

But before any announcements are made in the coming months, I wanted to just say this:

THANK YOU. All of you. Despite my disappearance from Goodreads and the writing community as I dealt with writer's block, family emergencies, and life shifts, you have been constant. You have provided support, love, and reviews (my personal favorite!!) and I can't thank you enough for that.

I am honored to be a part of the Goodreads community.

Stay tuned for more updates! A new series is upon us.

Wander intentionally, dear readers

There you have it. The name of my new lifestyle/travel blog. Don’t worry, there will still be plenty of posts about books I’m sure. But this site, rosesreids.com, will be migrating to wanderingintentionally.com. It’s a long name, I know, but I’m hoping you guys can forgive me for that! Maybe I’ll change it at some point. Probably not. Because it embodies exactly what I am trying to do in this new blog.

If you have a second, allow me to explain.

Over the past year, I have experienced several things that have forever changed my life.

My relationship with my mother became very strained, even to the point of no longer speaking.
I got reconnected with a friend who is wise beyond her years and living a life that I’d only ever dreamed of.
A very close friend was involved in a terrible wreck that nearly ended his life. Watching his recovery since then has also been a huge life-changer.

These seemingly small, subtle things made a huge impact in my life, and what I plan to do with my remaining years will forever be changed by them.

I don’t want to go the beaten path of college, marriage, family, retirement, death. It’s the single code that has been written out for all of us. The trail that has been blazed. But what about those of us who are trailblazers? Pathfinders? We don’t want to follow those who have beaten down the path before us. We’d rather make our own trails, or follow the deer paths through the fields.

That is what Wander Intentionally is going to attempt to showcase. I am trying to see if my trailblazing lifestyle of wandering with intention is going to work. And you guys get to sit back in a chair from the comfort of your own home to see if it does without taking any risks yourselves! (Although, I would 100% suggest the risk taking. Life is short after all.)

Thank you to all of my wonderful readers who diligently scanned my blog posts, ranting about books! Don’t worry, that nerdy book girl is still in me and very alive. I still read constantly. But she’s found a purpose (finally).

If you’re interested, join me over at wanderintentionally.com, where I’m attempting to be a pathfinder.

For the last time, later babes!

What’s on your bookshelf?

THANK YOU | Book sales over the past 3 days

[image error]I just wanted to pop in and give a HUGE HUGE HUGE thank you to you guys. Book sales went CRAZY on April 25, the day of the release of Smoke and Ash! So many of you bought a copy, and I’ll bet most of it was due to the incredible bloggers that reposted my entry several days ago about Jackson and his family. I’m thrilled to say that they’ll be receiving every penny from sales until May 25.

An update on Jackson, for those of you who are interested:

Jackson has been moved from the ICU, into a regular hospital room, and now has already been moved into a rehabilitation center. He really is a miracle.
His short-term memory is pretty faulty and he has trouble with it but his long-term memory seems to be holding up, it just takes him a minute.
He still has his manners and wit and personality, thank the Lord. I’m praying for a [image error]100% full recovery, physically and mentally.
Physically he’s on the road to 100% full recovery. He has a back brace and a cast on his left arm and hand but that’s the extent of it.
Mentally he’s doing well, especially considering the circumstances.

If you guys are interested in helping Jackson, contact me! And if you can continue to get the word out about Smoke and Ash and its proceeds going to Jackson and his family, I’d be eternally grateful. Sales are skyrocketing, but I need your help to keep them that way!

Thank you, dear friends!

What have you been up to recently? Comment/email me to let me know!

!Special Announcement!

Well, friends, we are less than 3 days out from the release of Smoke and Ash, the second book in The Afterlight Chronicles! I’m so incredibly excited to share this release with you all! But… that’s not why I’m writing to you…

If you’ve been on my site in the past month, then you know that a fear friend, Jackson Thomas, was involved in a horrible car wreck that nearly claimed his life. It’s a miracle that he survived at all, let alone that he is doing as well as he is. Jackson, the beautiful [image error]human, stood up and walked half of his hallway today! He’s doing MIRACULOUSLY well. But that doesn’t change the fact that he still needs help. And plenty of it.

For those of you who HAVEN’T been on my site in a while and have no idea who this Jackson K Thomas is, allow me to elucidate.

Jackson is a talented photographer and videographer whose work has been featured on huge Instagram accounts. He’s known by most as someone with drive, vision, and skill, but not everyone realizes what an amazing friend he is. Jackson has one of the biggest hearts I’ve ever fallen into. No matter where you are in your walk in life, he’ll be there to [image error]help you out. He loves sitting down and grabbing coffee with the saints… and the sinners. Because he knows he sure as anything falls closer to the latter.

Jackson is strong-willed, determined, gifted, brilliant, and passionate. He has a heart for people and an eye for beauty in every form. If there is one person on this planet I would trust to tell my deepest, darkest secrets to… it would be Jackson.

So are you guys ready for my big announcement???

Okay well gear up because here it comes:

EVERY CENT I RECEIVE IN BOOK SALES FOR THE FIRST MONTH OF THE RELEASE WILL GO TO JACKSON THOMAS AND HIS FAMILY

That’s a TON of book sales…. WITH YOUR HELP! I will be donating all of my royalties for the next month, until May 25th, to the Thomas family to help them pay for medical bills. Even if you don’t like my books, or haven’t read the first one, I urge you to purchase Smoke and Ash simply to help give money to the Thomas family. What’s a measly $7.99 going to cost you in the long run? For Jackson and his family, it could be a game changer. You never know.

So please, please help me heal Jackson! Help me to share the same love he’s extended to me and everyone else he knows.

Still not convinced? Okay. Well. If that didn’t work, how about I show you some of his videos?

If you guys are interested in helping me help the Thomas family, then PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE help me spread the word! All proceeds for the first month of the release of Smoke and Ash go to Jackson Thomas in his family.

$7.99 doesn’t seem like much, but if we can all get together, we can make a difference.

Thanks, loves! I knew I could count on you

ASKING FOR IMMEDIATE PRAYER IN A CRISIS

I don’t even know where to begin. Jackson, this incredibly talented, incredibly loving and free young man, has just been involved in a terrible accident where his van rolled 6 times. If you’ve been following my blog and read my latest post, then I’m sure you can guess that he is the one I’m traveling with and have fallen in love with during this time of crisis.

He is in a stable condition right now but he is not doing well.

Please pray.

I cannot stress how important it is for prayer right now. His family is trying to make it home from Greece in order to see their baby boy.

I love him so much and he is such an inspiration to everyone. I haven’t slept, I haven’t eaten, and I don’t plan on even showering until he wakes up.

Please, Lord, if you can hear me, I beg you to bring Jackson back….

Please pray with my, my beautiful readers…..

Check Jackson out on Instagram to see just what an amazing person he is, and the inspirational life he leads.

17 Days Until SMOKE + ASH Releases

I can hardly believe the time is already upon us. When I first finished writing Smoke and Ash (The Afterlight Chronicles #2) and scheduled an optimal release date, I thought to myself, That’s so long! I can’t wait that long to release it! Well friends, the time is coming. As of today, we are 17 days away from the release of the second book in the Afterlight Chronicles!

Many Beta readers have already read it and submitted feedback, and a few have even already left reviews on Goodreads. I cannot describe how happy it makes me to read what you write–both the good AND the bad. Your comments and constructive criticism help more than you know.

The official release date is:

April 25, 2017

It’s so soon, friends…

For now, check out some excerpts from reviews that have been submitted!

“As far as sequels go, it’s dang near perfect, because it threads in the past and forges boldly ahead into an incredibly enticing future. My favorite elements of this story *wink wink to Rose* would be all spoilery, and to say I enjoyed it would be an understatement, and I can’t recommend Rose highly enough, a true titan in the making in the YA fantasy genre.”

Luke Taylor, Author of Vault of Dreams

“There are very few authors who create fantasy worlds as beautiful and exceptional as Rose Reid did with this series. The magic-system, the sceneries, the politics, everything, is amazingly well done. I am constantly surprised by the twist and turns throughout these books. This series has me completely hooked, and I cannot wait to read book three.”

Nicki, Goodreads Review

“Just like after I read the first one I found myself feeling like I got my heart ripped out. I both love and hate the way that this series keeps leaving me in gut wrenching pain. You definitely know how to leave your readers on the edge of our seats.”

Jorgie, Goodreads Reviewer

For those of you who have read this post, I have a surprise for you! I am releasing the title of the third book of The Afterlight Chronicles several months in advance. Just to get you all hyped up about the series. One of the many reasons I chose to independently publish was because it meant that I could schedule these things myself, whereas most authors have to wait an entire year before they can release another novel. Luckily for me, I get to tell you the name of the third book in Aerietta’s tale… and that its release date is going to be sooner than you know.

Coal and Bone (The Afterlight Chronicles #3)

I’m already excited to share it with you! Those of you who have read my novels should recognize the correlation between the second and third installments’ names

MAJOR BLOG CHANGES

Hello sweet friends! It’s been too long since I’ve written to you. As I’m sure you can tell, writing and reading have taken a backseat recently. Many things have been happening recently in my life that have made keeping up with reading and writing daily a challenge. I’ve had some family issues with my mom recently, and some of our differences are causing us to drift away from each other. I’ve seen it, noted it, and am afraid of drifting away from her permanently. So in the spirit of unity, I am making a [image error]very important decision:

I am leaving the country.

If all goes according to plan, this fall I will be embarking on a year-long journey in which I will spend no more than a week at a time in Nashville. It’s exhilarating and terrifying but I am absolutely thrilled to be beginning this adventure with people that I love and who are dear to my heart.

I am starting off in Ireland, the breathtaking land where Finley meets Beckett in There You’ll Find me. Then my journey will take me to Italy, where I’m sure to meet a Cipriano or two (AKA Patch Cipriano from Hush, Hush). After that, I move to Israel where I will be staying for several weeks. Needless to say, many of history’s characters are from this country so I am more than happy to be spending time there. Then, I may be off to Hawaii to spend 6 months of my grand journey loving on the people there, showing each individual how special and important they are, and doing anything I can to help. After that, I end my travels in Belize, the country I’ve already visited three times. My heart cannot wait to end up there.

This has been such a huge shift for me. My heart has always wanted to travel (it’s why I read and write so much) but I have never had the guts to do it… until I met someone who insisted that there would never be a better time than now. So I’m going. And I’m doing this. And I want to bring you along with me.

So obviously there are going to be some major changes to this blog… because it is no longer going to be Rose’s blog for rambling about books and occasionally movies. Rose’s Reids is about to officially be turning into a lifestyle blog. I’ll be posting about recipes I learn about in Ireland, fabrics I find in Israel, people I meet in Hawaii, and (of course) books, because they are a part of my life.[image error]

There will be a name change to the website shortly, and the layout has already changed. I am being mentored by someone in photography right now so fingers crossed I’ll begin to post some beautiful photos from around the world.

I am so very excited to go on this adventure. To get caught in a thunderstorm in Ireland or stranded on the side of the road in Maya Mopan, Belize. I can’t wait to share what happens and what I learn along the way. But I NEED NEED NEED you all to keep me updated. Traveling is not a glamorous life… switching planes and sleeping in the back of your car… I’ll need you to keep me updated on all the new books coming out. Which ones are the best? Which ones am I missing out on? Should I buy them IMMEDIATELY or wait until I’m stateside again? That sort of thing.

I’m still going to be posting a ton… just not about my reviews anymore. So if you are an author reading this, take note:

I AM NO LONGER ACCEPTING REVIEW REQUESTS.

Yay! Guys, I am so excited. Love you all.

Talk soon…

It’s Factual Friday! + SPESHUL Announcements + Tips and Tricks for Indie Writers

What’s up, my babies? Long time no chat! Trust me, I’ve been up to plenty. Hope you guys have been up to stuff too!

[image error]Factual Friday means it’s time to give you guys the low-down on what’s up.

As most of you know, the sequel to Crown of Crimson, Book 1 of the Afterlight Chronicles, will be published April 25 of this year! Which is extremely exciting for me.

Pre-orders for Smoke and Ash opened on Amazon TODAY so buzz on over to order your copy to have it delivered wirelessly to your Kindle device the very hour it is released!

It’s been a super fun journey thus far but it’s not even close to over yet.

But, if you’ve been reading my blog for a while, you’re keenly aware of the fact that I can never just do ONE THING. I need to be doing at least eight separate things at the same time. Which is why I’ve gone out and bought a ton of new books (23, to be exact) and will be reading them AT THE SAME TIME as I am working on a new series!

And guys, I’m hoping this one blows your socks off.

Stay tuned to hear more about the new book series I have in the works and to get exclusive content!

So, since it’s Factual Friday, I feel like I should dish out a few facts and cool tips for Indie Writers. Sound good?

For a ton of Indie Writing tips, check out my other blog posts: Useful Tools for Indie Writers and Useful Tools for Indie Writers (Round 2!). I’m planning on writing a “Round 3” here pretty soon because I had some really great feedback from rounds 1 & 2.

If you’re an independent author, then this is generally one of the first problems you stumble upon (other than formatting and layout and Oh my gosh, I’m only three pages in, but what am I going to do about the cover?!). Well, look no further fellow writers. Listed below are my top favorite sites for self-publishing.

KDP (Kindle Direct Publishing) used to be solely for electronic publishing but recently they’ve expanded their platform to accommodate paperback (and hard-cover hopefully soon) authors. It’s incredibly easy to use, free, and has features that can be accessed for very low prices. Advertise your book, promote it, and create your own author’s page!
CreateSpace Publishing is an independent platform powered by Amazon. This was originally where you had to make your paperback copies after you published with KDP’s Kindle version. It is slightly outdated and a bit trickier to use but still a great program.
SwoonReads is an online organization that allows independent authors to offer their works to their readers for a chance to be published by Macmillan. SwoonReads is very careful about which books they choose, but if they choose you, you’re pretty golden. Only one catch! You HAVE to only offer your book on SwoonReads for the first 6 months! OUCH. That’s a chomp out of revenue!

Well, friends, that’s all for Factual Friday this week! I’ll probably have read 8 of my 23 books next time I check in with you.

Until then…

Later, babes!

What’s on your bookshelf? (Amaya says: “The Road. Have you read it?” No, Amaya, I haven’t…but it’s in my stack of 23!)
