Tinus Etsebeth was born in 1979 in Upington, South Africa, and now lives in Cape Town.

A writer, part-time actor, and lifelong animal lover, he shares his home with several dogs, a bossy cat, and a very patient wife. His background in performance and speculative storytelling fuels the cinematic tone of his work.

In 2002, he joined the South African Police Service, where he has served for over two decades. His work as a crime analyst, combined with years of frontline experience, brings authentic grit and investigative detail to his storytelling. In 2008, the International Police Association awarded him a scholarship for a law enforcement seminar in Germany.
