New Release Challenging Miss Valentine
Here is the short blurb for my new release:
For one mad moment Ella Valentine steps outside her comfort zone and ends up caught in a lie and saddled with a new boss who she suspects might be losing his mind. Now he has her enact-ing insane acts of espionage while trying to catch the culprit who has embezzled money from their company.
Charles “Charlie” Murray II might be heir to the Murray family dynasty, but he’d rather be off creating than running the CFO office. However, if he can discover who’s been stealing from the company then he just might attain the position of his dreams or will he sacrifice it all to be with Ella.
I hope you will enjoy Ella & Charlie's Story!
A little excerpt:
Oh, dear Lord! I lost my job! No, I just quit my job. Ela held up the photograph. “George, I am a colossal idiot.”
What had she done? Obviously, she needed more prayer than she thought. And now what was Charlie planning to do to her? She decided not to stick around and find out. In a flash, she took off down the side hall toward the stairs. She pulled open the heavy steel door and glanced over to see Charlie still coming right for her, and this time he was jogging. After running through the doorway, she took the cement steps to the floor below as quickly as she could.
“Ella, stop!”
She paused on a step for just a second to peer up at Charlie staring down at her, a deep frown marring his handsome face.
“Stop following me. I quit, remember?”
“I remember. Now hold on. We need to discuss this.” He started down the stairs.
Her heart raced with panic. With his much longer legs, he was bound to catch up with her in no time. She launched herself down the next set of stairs. “There’s nothing to talk about.”
“Yes, there is,” he shouted back. “Now stand still, because I’m bringing you back to the office with me one way or another.”
She stopped and his footsteps ceased, as well. Would he actually force her back to the office? She could almost imagine him picking her up and tossing her over his shoulder fireman-style to carry her back to the office.
Carefully, she peeked up the stairwell. Shimmering brown eyes filled with determination met hers.

Reading Old Favorites on my B-day Weekend
I'm sitting on my bed with a stack of books. All of them YA. It's my birthday weekend and I plan to read as much of them as I can. Among them I have Melody Carlson, Kristin Billerbeck and yes, Meg Cabot (and it's not just because Royal Wedding is coming out this summer!). Do you find yourself re-reading old favorites. I do! I do it all the time. And sometimes I feel guilty about that as there are so many good books out there that I have yet to read. But how can I not revisit these special friends like Elizabeth Bennet and even Princess Mia? So I say, go forth and read: read new books, favorite books and even something outside your usual reading genre. There is nothing better than being submerged in a good book. That's how I'll be spending my birthday--well, between eating good food and birthday cake, of course.

A heart-to-heart Message
There has been a lot on my heart lately related to this new book release. For the last week, I have been inundated with plans and promotional efforts to get this book a good start. I’ve been involved as a published author for eight years now. Book releases are always exciting, but then there comes a book or a series that really excites you. “This is the one,” you think. And that’s how I feel about the Aubrey Christian Academy series. It isn’t about making money. (Ha Ha!) No it’s about reaching readers, in this case, teen readers, and making a difference in their lives. In our art just as in every part of our life, it should point back to our Lord and King. I pray that is what happens with the release of Andrea & the Five Day Challenge. I want to impact lives for Christ and show them there are more wholesome books out there to read. Pray for me for the next few weeks and let’s see what God will do.

The Mystery of Edwin Drood
Here is an excerpt of something I posted over on my personal blog. I thought readers over here might find it interesting as well.
For those of you who don’t know, The Mystery of Edwin Drood is adapted from the Charles Dickens novel of the same name. The thing about this novel is that it was unfinished at the time of Dickens’ death so there have been speculations ever since that time as to how the master would have concluded the story. Imagine reading this story in installments and in 1870 it just stops after twenty-something chapters due to the author’s death. And no ending?! Can you imagine the fan-fiction we’d have today?
A summary of the plot: An opium-addicted man, John Jasper, envisions murdering his nephew (Edwin Drood) who is engaged to Rosa whom Jasper is secretly in love with. Edwin disappears and the rest of the story concerns discovering his whereabouts or his body.
You can see how an unfinished story of this kind would baffle readers for generations. In fact, it has been nearly 150 years and academics are still trying to figure out this mystery. The University of Buckingham has launched a project to have the average reader help solve the mystery. Here is a recent article on the project.
