Knowing your calling.
It has been a while since I dropped in to say hello or given you a life update, but everything is going well and nothing much has changed. I am still studying hard, and there has been no time to fit anything else into my schedule.
In the midst of all this, I have been thinking about ministry and what it means to know your calling. I remember several decades ago, when I used to pray about this in earnest, always hoping to get the answer as quickly as possible. I was so eager to know. The answe...

In Preparation
Folks, seriously? Can you believe that we are at the end of the first week in March, 2019?
This year is already racing ahead, and all my ‘priorities’ are being carried over to the next month because ‘life’ is getting in the way. Everyday routine and life commitments have predominantly occupied my every waking moment, ultimately forcing me to put mostly everything else on hold.
It’s frustrating, and a painful reminder that there is no such thing as ‘a perfect time’ to achieve my goals. So, I...

Invest in your Ministry
A few months ago, I received an invitation to attend Worship School for the Level Two Psalmody Course. It came at a time when things were so hectic, that I was already cutting back on activities to accommodate priorities. However, my attendance at this course quickly became high on my list.
Could I afford it? Well, the real answer to that is no. I had to really weigh my options on whether to wait until I could pay for it, or just faith it out. I had to believe that somehow, the fees would get...

Are you a Diva?
A person who I look up to recently implied that I was behaving like a Diva. This totally came out of the blue for me, and so I was completely thrown. It made me pause, and take a step back to scrutinise my approach to ministry.
We all need to do this at intervals in our faith walk because sometimes ‘error’ can creep into our lives, and this is why we must be accountable to someone who is not afraid to ‘tell it exactly how it is’. Never surround yourself with ‘yes people’. You need to have peo...

It’s all about Ministry
Being passionate about ministry, especially within the areas of Music and Worship, has emerged from a desire to serve the Lord.
The Logos Lounge is a culmination of years of experience as a Praise & Worship minister within the local church environment, and in the areas of Hospitality and Counselling. As a professional singer, I have had the opportunity to travel and experience different cultures and people from varying backgrounds. At the same time my role as Choir Chaplain gave me an insig...

Can you handle the Truth?
Brethren, why do we hate hearing the truth? We act as if we do but when it comes to the crunch and reality sets in, and then we can’t handle it. It’s easier to get defensive and offended than to admit to the truth. Nobody really wants to receive correction anymore.
Years ago, and this was in a Christian setting, I realised that quoting scripture to back up my exhortation was making some people feel very uncomfortable. They felt rebuked, admonished, chastised, and condemned. They perceived me...

Growth takes time.
I grew up in a harsh environment where you had to be determined to survive. Nothing came easy, and everything was complicated. However, because of this experience, I am able to weather the extreme storms of life, knowing that they do not last forever. In hindsight, I am grateful for the brutal experience because it has set me up for the reality of everyday life.
‘So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom’. Psalm 90:12 KJV
Time and timing is a huge mystery of s...

Are we just People Pleasing?
Change is not always as palpable as it is for me right now, in this moment, but I feel it. It is as real as life itself. There has been a slight movement in my personal growth; and with it comes a deeper awareness of who I am, and where I am headed. It’s very subtle but significant enough to draw my attention to myself and the people in my immediate environment.
“It feels like when you just know that you know, that you know; but cannot explain it.”
It means that I can be more direct and speci...

Doing the best that I can. #CulturedFaith
This is just another quick pop in to let you know what I have been up to. I hope we all had a great Easter break and are looking forward to getting back on the grind? Probably not!
Well as for me, I got a bit fidgety and stopped doing what I was supposed to do. Instead, I suddenly had the very strong urge to do some drawing. However, let me explain first.
Having spent plenty of time both at home and abroad, it has been easy to acquire an appreciation for the intricate differences, and subtle...

So you want to be a singer?
Last year I went on a mini tour for a performance on German TV. It all sounds very glamorous doesn’t it? You see, sometimes I forget to highlight the exciting moments that occur in my life, and have unfortunately failed to capture them in full detail.
This means that over the years I have missed out on some exciting photo opportunities, just to ensure that I am ready when called upon to do my job.
I find that I am often too drained to think of taking advantage of these moments, until they are...
