Maddie,

Oh ... poor Inga! :)

So, here's the story ... originally there was supposed to be another book (possibly two) which told the continued story of both Inga and Magda. But that didn't pan out and instead Tyndale had me write The One True Love of Alice-Ann (which doesn't have so many characters LOL).

I'll tell you what is in my notes for Inga (will that help? LOL).

Inga marries the young pastor who is given quite the leg up in their denomination because of his willingness to marry her. While his intent was good, when someone so young and inexperienced receives so much so quickly, well ... there are bound to be disasters. He becomes more married to his work than Inga ... but he truly loves the daughter they have together.

Inga is a good mother and a dutiful wife (I had Magda mention that to Betty), but there is no love between her and her husband. When he is clearly over his head, however, strong-willed Inga steps in to be the help-meet she should be and, in all that, she and Axel fall in love.

Ah, but not so fast ... remember that Inga wrote a letter to Frank right before she married? Well, he has since married and had a child who dies shortly after her third birthday. Knowing he has a child out there somewhere else drives him to find Inga and their child. Of course this not only upsets the apple cart of Axel and Inga's marriage, but they are forced to hire an attorney, and they fear that when the true story of their marriage comes out, Axel will lose his position in the church and Inga will lose her position in the community.

In the end, Axel decides that he achieved his goal without the hard work that comes with it. He has the opportunity to take a smaller church in a remote community where, after he and Inga win in a court battle against Frank, they can begin again. When he proposes to Inga that they take it, they are faced with whether or not to endure "the talk" of a big town or to live quiet lives, something neither of them ever felt they were meant for.

So ... what do you think they'll do? :)

And ... do you think I should go ahead and write this story even if I have to publish it with another house? Or self-publish? What say you?

My father was a graduate of the FBI Academy and worked as a state investigator for the GBI (Georgia Bureau of Investigation). He had a case once that I've often said I would turn into either a short story or, perhaps, a novel. I'd need to "build" on it a little first ... but I think it would be interesting. Basically, it's about what happens when someone overhears something on the phone that they shouldn't have heard ... :) (I'll leave it at that.)(less)

The Healing Trip, Part 17

(From my journal dated Sunday August 4, 2019)I am so grateful Jessica was here yesterday. Not only because she was able to spend time with her uncle, but because of what happened on the way back to Sylvania, shortly after we left the hospital. We were barely out of Savannah when my whole body began to shake. Quiver, seemingly from the inside out. Even though I was talking to Jessica and she appear Read more of this blog post »
