Two Short Stories
In addition to my books, I occasionally write short stories. I recently created a page on my web site where these stories are hosted, and freely available to read.
Short Stories Page
Two stories are presently there. A little horror/nightmare tale, "Silhouette Nocturne" and a Science Fiction short "The Spaceman"
Check em out!

Intro to 'Chromosome Warrior'
After a brief hiatus from writing following the launch of 'Chromosome Conspiracy' I am returning to the project by starting work on the third book in the series, 'Chromosome Warrior'
As a bit of a tease, I am posting the intro to the new story. Enjoy! Look for Chromosome Quest and Chromosome Conspiracy on Amazon.
...
Call me Jill. It is not my name, though it has been the name I answer to for a while now. If you really want to hear about it, the first thing you'll probably want to know is where I was born, and what my lousy childhood was like, what sort of people my parents were, and all that Dickensian sort of crap. Good luck on that. If you want to know the simple truth, I am an authentic Man in Black, the real deal. That's all you need to know.
Some years ago – never mind how long precisely – having little or no money and, despite a degree of talent, few obvious prospects due to my gender and stature, I thought I would enlist in the service. I don't know what I expected, have a few adventures and see the world I suppose. It beat becoming a hooker, not that there's anything wrong with that.
I almost didn't get in. Petite and ornamental, assets to a hooker, hindered a recruit. I had to kick someone in the teeth – several someones in fact – until they understood my feminine curves clothed steel musculature.
Yeah, that 'degree of talent' I mentioned!
Even as a teenager I was strong for a girl, and fast. After intense training courtesy of the service, I am stronger and faster than anyone I have ever met, including muscle-bound jar-heads standing a head taller and massing twice my weight. I have never met anyone I couldn't take in a fair fight, not that I fight fair. A fair fight is a suckers game. Never give a sucker an even break, I'm there to win.
No one I couldn't take that is, save one particular big hulk of a guy. It was, oddly, love at first sight, I suppose. Those few who I let know me well would have been shocked at that. Whatever strange roll of the genetic dice gifted my above average talents paid Fitz the bonus jackpot. The guy can bench-press a Buick. Literally! I've seen him do it. He also has other talents a gal should note.
Love? I dunno. Maybe. Yeah, shocked me too, I am not given to squishing in the masculine presence. Then again....
The service was good to me, trained me physically, in marksmanship and tools from knife to computer. This G.I. Je-n learns chop-chop.
I had expected with my natural abilities Boot Camp would pass easily. I was mistaken! I quickly learned happiness often consists in getting enough sleep. Just that, and nothing more.
Fortunately, the meat-grinder of Boot Camp was brief and another path soon opened up. My natural talents again. I excelled to such a degree that I was soon recruited into more esoteric ranks and eventually that is where I met Fitz.
Now he is lost – presumed dead – and I must find him.

Baen Books
A slightly updated version of Chromosome Quest has been submitted to Baen Books for possible consideration for print publishing. Keep an eye on this Blog for updates as they come. Publication is by no means assured, but they are at least interested enough to take a look. That is encouraging.

The Free Promotion has ended
For the last week, Amazon has been offering Chromosome Quest on a special FREE promotion, and a surprisingly large number of Amazon customers downloaded it during the promotion.
That promotion has ended now, but the book is available at the special price of $2.99, reflecting a $1 discount from the $3.99 regular price.
The book has had some minor cosmetic updates, fixing typos and such since the original February 15 publication date
