A Creative Idea!
Well hello everyone,
For those of you who don't know me my name is Joshua McManus and I'm a writer ha ha! can you believe it!
well I write children's poetry and I like to write in rhyme.
but! I must worn you now I'm not too good at punctuation and spelling. but I never wanted this to stop me from giving it a go!
so hear I am writing a blog, I hope "blog" is spelt right!?!
anyway lets "START" with "IDEAS"!!!
"Ideas" what is an idea a stroke of luck or is it perfectly crafted from the deepest pit of your imagination!
I don't no! not a clue!?!
I just know these "Ideas" keep coming to me, but now I guess it is the right time to wonder how?
see I like to write about our world and everything in it, our world in it's rawest form, now that does interest me and unless your writing from total fiction you can always find ideas in the world!
Now before I go blabbing on, I have thought about "Ideas" and where I think mine come from and it is these three things that you need! that can draw in these perfect ideas!
what you need!
1. an engine!
2. your fuel!
3. a spark!
Now at this point your properly thinking I've gone totally mad! and you properly have a strong urge to run from the computer but please hear me out!
1. your engine is your brain its simple and I'm pretty sure you have all got one "A Brain" well I hope so?
well this is the simple bit brain-engine, engine-brain!
right ok...
2. your fuel... when writing, how do you want your reader to react? do you want them to laugh, cry! Do you want them to be grossed out! or be inspired or to feel brave or excited? what is your fuel? I know mine is I like to make children laugh and sometimes gross them out a bit! ha ha!
Now once you have your fuel go ahead and pore it into your engine-"Brain" and now your engine is all juiced up and ready to go!
3. a spark! now that spark will set of your brain running just like a engine in a car!! it will start moving but how do we get that spark? well the best way I know to get that spark is to ......
"EXPLORE!!!" The world!
pay just as much attention to the small things as you do the big! And when your exploring the best thing to do is.....
"ASK QUESTIONS!!!"
Yes you got it ask questions!
Because when you ask questions your unconscious mind starts to try and answer those questions in every way it can, giving you a flood of great ideas!!!
I asked myself a very strange question once and it gave me the material for this poem.
"Did The Elephant Choose His Nose?"
Did the elephant choose his nose?
A mystery no one knows.
If he had a choice,
And spoke up to express his voice,
Would he have chosen the nose he's got?
Perhaps he did or maybe not,
Would he have chosen one so long?
Or did he get his choice so wrong.
Would he have asked for a nose that was small?
Or maybe not chosen one at all!
Was it the plan for it to twitch?
And settle any annoying itch,
Or swing so low and touch the ground,
Or search for things that lurk around.
Someone tell me, did he choose his nose?
Still nobody knows.
But after all,
Even if he did want a nose, big or small,
He doesn't seem to complain a lot,
I think he's happy with the one he's got.
Right well that's my take on "Ideas!"
So think of those three points and put them into practise, it's defiantly a fun way of getting your brain bubbling and drawing in some fantastic ideas!
Try it! It worked for me!
Right well that's all for now folks see you next time!
