So today's the official publication day, and so far everything for "My Chinese-America" has been a lot of fun. I had a nice review from Publisher's Weekly, and I read last week at Clayton State University in Atlanta. Audience members who'd already been reading the book told me they thought I'm funny, which I'm glad for. They also asked me what I'd learned while writing the book. Some of the essays were from parts of my own life, but from research I learned a lot about: point guard Jeremy Lin; Chinese-American history from late 1800s on; and the "Asians in the Library" incident at UCLA. "My Chinese-America" has protest essays, personal essays, and outside topic-driven essays. I hope that it covers a range of experiences.
