Return as Stardust

“Admiral” Daniel Alfonso DiNozzo – 3/14/2010–10/7/25

DiNozzo as a kitten.

Yesterday, shortly after 2:30 PM, my little shadow guardian and editing sidekick, DiNozzo, died in my arms here at home.

The change in his health was sudden and drastic. With the help of Compassion 4 Paws, we brought him home from the ER, spent a few hours loving on him, and then we helped him head out on his final adventure.

But he is made of stardust and even amidst our profound grief, I know he still remains. Even outside of my ...

Hiatus

I haven’t wanted to post this message because it’s a bit painful and raw for me, but I need to do so sooner than later.

While I realize that Amaskan’s Honor just came out, and I should be doing more to celebrate it, my energy and time right now is divided and rightfully so as Molli’s health is not in a good place. Her long COVID is debilitating to the point that she spends the bulk of her days in bed, unable to do much of anything at all. Even conversations are exhausting as everything overs...

Happy Book Birthday!

Happy Release Day aka Happy Book Birthday to me!

Amaskan’s Honor is officially out in the world and the epic trilogy is done!

I can’t express how hard it was to finish this trilogy and not just because of health complication brought on by both Big C’s. Saying goodbye to your characters is *hard* but I love this book. I truly hope you all love it as well.

If you’ve ever struggled with what it means to be a family or with the injustice of the world, I wrote this trilogy for you.

I ha...

A New Me (Part I)

Greetings and salusalu—damn, I know this word. Shit. No, that’s not it. That book that is also an animated movie, the one with the pig and the spider—aha! Charlotte’s Web! Yes, that’s it.

No, that’s not the word, just the book and movie title. What was I saying? Oh yes, greetings and salutations

Got it. Finally.

That phrase has only been my greeting for a decade as a writer, but damn if I couldn’t remember it. Now that five minutes have passed in my brain and an entire slipstream of...

Connectivity

Lately, I can’t help but be contemplative about connectivity in a world hell-bent on not connecting…

I am old enough to have been a child back when GEnie was getting started back in 1985 as an alternative to CompuServe. Basically dial-up connections to BBS’s, games, and chat rooms way, way back. It was back on GEnie that I first discovered the Science Fiction Roundtable, often thought of as a sort of unofficial SFWA chat room, and ended up chatting with some big name folks like Jerry Pournell...

Where in the World?

I remember the original video game Where in the World is Carmen Sandiago? from back when I was a kid in 1985. I didn’t get to play it in school as our school only had Oregon Trail, but apparently Molli played it a ton. A “deluxe” version was released in 1994, and I didn’t play that one either.

The logo for the TV game show entitled Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego? featuring a non-descript women with black hair and wearing a red hat and red trenchcoat.

Of course, these games spawned two TV game shows entitled Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?, which ran for five seasons in the 90’s and Where in Time is Carmen Sandiego?, which ran for two seas...

WorldCon Wrap-Up

Welcome to my WorldCon Wrap-Up where I wax about what worked and didn’t work about the event and dump lots of photos on you. 😉

Last week was WorldCon, the 83rd World Science Fiction Convention, which was held in Seattle! I worked hard to help bring it to my town, so I took the risk to attend–heavily masked, of course. I had several panels, a reading, and other things (full schedule here), but I spent most of my time at the Books & Chains booth (709). My art was also in the Art Show, which was ...

Amaskan’s Honor Book Release Party

With a release date of 9/16, it’s time to plan our Amaskan’s Honor Book Release Party!

Instead of a live streaming event on YouTube, I decided to use Zoom for this trilogy ending release. I like the informality and the back and forth of a Zoom party more so join me!

WHEN: Friday, Sept. 19, 2025 @ 6:30 PM PT / 9:30 PM ET

WHERE: Zoom! I’ll post the link a few days before the event here on my site, but if you’re on Facebook, you can follow the event there and get the link a bit easier. E...
